What are the impacts of the Times ignoring Herrera? .

Up until now, the Establishment has been attempting to provide Ridgefield Barbie with an aura of invincibility.

Until now. With the Seattle Times passing her by; suddenly, things are different.

Suddenly, the fact that the Empress has no clothes is on display for all to see. The "inevitability" quotient has dropped to zero.

Marketing the empty suit like an empty cardboard box ain't gonna cut it. Speaking in generalities because you're too ignorant to intelligently address the issues might work when the fix is in like it was when she got the appointment.

But now?

Not so much.

A record of caving into democrats for massive spending in the House and co-sponsoring SEIU legislation and then lying about it is not the record people want when it comes to representation in Congress.

And now, we watch as the wheels come off and the string begins to unravel.

The joke of the day? Herrera's laughable voter pamphlet statement.

By all means, go to Clark County Elections and download a copy of the voter's pamphlet.

In that pamphlet, you'll find yet another of the many fictional portrayals of Ridgefield Barbie, we she babbles about a "new generation of leadership" like she ever showed any in Olympia while selling us out to the SEIU and the democrats.

Her primary commitment, of course, will be whatever Cathy McMorris Rogers tells her it is, since without McMorris, we'd have never heard of our local version of Obama.

The fact is that Babs accomplished absolutely nothing in Olympia... and except for selling us out, the empty suit will accomplish absolutely nothing in DC.

A campaign of lies is summed up in this fiction:
As a State Representative for Clark and Cowlitz Counties I voted to cut spending, lower taxes and balance government budgets.
Just one of her efforts to sell us out? A so-called "vote to cut spending" by voting WITH the democrats and AGAINST her own Caucus to help the leftist dems strip out the last $229 million from the state emergency fund.

Yeah. That REALLY "cut spending."

This colossal waste of political skin went so far as to tell the Columbian:
“Not once have you heard me criticize Brian Baird’s performance in Southwest Washington.”
You'd think if she was so proud of such an idiotic pronouncement, she'd brag about THAT in this statement as well.

She stupidly forgot that Washington STATE'S spending, that SHE HELPED, is hurting us as well. But that didn't stop her from engaging in it... along with the dems that she can't seem to find a way to criticize.

When she calls herself an "independent voice," such a lie is obvious to a blind man. She will do, absolutely and unhesitatingly, whatever she's told to do by her puppet master, McMorris.

If, God forbid, she manages to get elected, she ought to have "(NP -McMorris Rogers)" after her name.

A massive waste of words from a massive waste of time.

Well, the SEIU hasn't endorsed Herrera in THIS race yet... how about the...

As we all know by now, the SEIU and other unions gave Ridgefield Barbie $5000 for her campaign in 2008 and she repaid them by co-sponsoring and voting for SEIU legislation.

Now, maybe, the IBEW hasn't yet endorsed the faux representative. But it looks pretty much like SHE has endorsed THEM.

Well, the card board cut out's keepers won't be pleased by THIS particular guilt by association, but then, it DOES speak for itself:

Some pictures are worth a thousand words. This one might be worth 10,000.

Impressions of a 3rd District Congressional Forum (II)

In the article in the paper, I was struck by the whining and sniveling of the Herrera Herd who immediately started complaining about how dere poor, widdle old baby cakes was tweated on da stage.

Seriously.
The real David Castillo came out tonight. I'm not a Jaime Herrera supporter however the way David Castillo attacked her on stage when he knew she could not respond as he had the last word tonight was wrong.

If you were not there picture this.

(3) Republicans on stage and (2) Democrats and (1) Independant. David Castillo did not attack anything the Democrats said all night and in his closing statement he tore into Herrera another Republican knowing she could say nothing.

What a sorry excuse for a man and I sure hope he don't treat his wife like that when she disagrees with him! What he did was uncalled for and it showed me he no longer deserves my vote! I'm voting for Hedrick as he is not playing dirty politics!

Wait until the video comes out and you will see how low our own party members will go to WIN. I don't agree with the SEIU at all, but he had no right to do what he did they way he did it.

sagriffins — July 9, 2010 at 12:30 a.m. ( | suggest removal )

And then:

Castillo will now be on the phone trying to keep CVTV from releasing the video showing the way he attacked Herrera!

Castillo lost my vote also but it was a while back when he did that robocall attacking Herrera.

A Democrat will win this race because of people like David Castillo.

Rob McKenna should also come clean on his endorsement of David Castillo! Nothing like endorsing the family member of one of your employees! Oh I was not supposed to say that!

I agree what he did tonight was planned and wrong! The crowd saw it and agreed it was uncalled for! Why did Ms. Durbin not comment on this at it was the highlight of the evening.

sowens — July 9, 2010 at 12:57 a.m. ( | suggest removal )

Followed by more pap:

Lew, Jaime was speaking to the people not the candidates! If the people want to see her record fine! But when another candidate on the same platform takes it as let's dig up some trash on them then that's trash politics!

Lew, are you upset Hedrick did not pass you a note? I would have found him passing you a note odd also!

However, I will say one thing, if my Husband was Hedrick, Castillo would have had a a#@ whooping right there on the stage after the way he totally disrespected her! Castillo has no respect for others and it shows! Don't agree with him and he will disrespect you.. That's what we need in Congress?

Interesting he is being buddies with a Democrat opponent while attacking his fellow republican opponents! So is Castillo a Liberal now or a moderate?

sowens — July 9, 2010 at 4:14 a.m. ( | suggest removal )

The efforts of this moron (these morons?) and the plan of painting Ridgefield Barbie as some sort of victim just re-enforces the idea that she doesn't have what it takes to be a 5th grade class representative, let alone a member of congress.

The empty suit did a DAMNED fine job of imitating a deer caught in the headlights.

Yeah, the real David Castillo came out on that stage. The same guy that shows up with his A game EVERY time.

That these (This?) Herrera scull could call what happened up there an "attack," as if Castillo physically struck Herrera, is pathetic.

Castillo schooled Barbie. That he had the last word or the first word would make no difference. The clueless one is a Guardian of the SEIU, having co-sponsored and voted for their bill, all the while lying about her motivations (after all, unions only gave Herrera a mere $5000 in the 08 election... they have to get SOMEthing in return for their investment.)

"No longer deserves your vote?" You slimeball, he never had your vote to begin with.

Castillo has EVERY right to hit Babs over her noggin with her own record. After all, didn't she spew THIS tripe?
“I am the only candidate who has a record of voting against wasteful government spending,” said state Rep. Jaime Herrera, R-Camas, the only candidate in the field who currently holds elected office
She's also the only candidate to sell us out to the SEIU and to vote with the leftists to strip out the last $229 million from our state's emergency fund. Odd, she doesn't mention THAT part of her record, does she?

The moment the video comes out, I'll be reminded what a blithering, incompetent tool Herrera actually is, thank you very much.

And then to bring up the completely factual robo-call as a reason not to vote for the man (Was that posted by Shannon Barnett? He pulled that same stunt when he bailed outm on Castillo after that 100% factual call went out) What is WRONG with people?

Little Miss Muffet DEMANDS that we look at her record.

When we DO look at her record and discover how utterly worthless the record that SHE wants us to look at actually is, the idiots around her respond with this kind of trash.

If Herrera makes it to the general, a democrat will win this race because Heck will stomp Herrera into the ground like a golf tee.

And then attacking McKenna because like so many others that he's worked with... and that Herrera has worked with.... have made the choice to kick her to the curb and endorse someone worthy of the title "Congressman."

And to the idiot who babbled that "if you husband was Hedrick," etc, etc... there's a damned good likelihood that Castillo would have knocked his dumb, hen-pecked ass out.

Yes, these posters are typical of the ignorant kool aid drinking types drawn to the package with no concern over the contents... which Castillo showed simply weren't there.

Whoever these people (person) is, I do hope they keep babbling like this. Each time this kind of garbage comes up it just shows how ill-equipped Little Miss Dainty is to represent anyone in anything.

So, members of the local party (Those in the Herrera Herd) are a little bit upset with me.

For the last few days, there's been a little kerfuffle going on in local party circles because someone in party leadership followed orders and distributed a remark of mine from both this blog and Clark County Politics that says the following:

"The despicable political cartoon that is Jaime Herrera will not mysteriously cease being the waste of skin she is. Concepts of honor and truth will remain as foreign to her if she wins as they are now.

For purposes of context, the body of the post in question is provided here:

Recently, I was asked: If Herrera wins the primary, are you going to let up on her?"

Not only no, but hell no.

Folks, I believe there is a place for partisan politics. But as individuals, we must find the line between blind obedience to a party line and the suspension of common sense.

Party allegiance isn't a death warrant. At the end of the day, if Ridgefield Barbie and her keepers manage to fool enough people into voting her in, either through to the general or, God forbid, into Congress, what exactly does that change?

Will she somehow magically become honorable? Will someone install a knowledge chip that will give her a clue about any of the major issues confronting us? Will she suddenly stop lying to us, exaggerating her background, her knowledge and suitability to actually be IN Congress? Will she suddenly cease her betrayal of Republican principles like she did while in the legislature, becoming a Guardian of the SEIU and while spending our money like a drunken sailor to help her leftist buddies? Can we be sure that she'll betray us again, representing Cathy McMorris Rogers, who built her from the ground up, instead of us?

Will the mentality that allowed her to leave the floor of the House for hours at a time to fund raise; which allowed her to ditch us during session for yet another McMorris trough session in DC suddenly return to the level where her FIRST duty becomes us... instead of her?

No.

The despicable political cartoon that is Jaime Herrera will not mysteriously cease being the waste of skin she is. Concepts of honor and truth will remain as foreign to her if she wins as they are now.

There are no circumstances where I will not do all I legally can to keep her from winning any election.

Period. Ever.

For those wondering, I hope I've made my position clear.

The person who sent this out is a died-in-the-wool Herrera kool aid drinker, who at least partially blames this type of writing on their decision to help sell us out to this empty suit.

This person then goes on to write:
I was leaning toward David at one time, but this type of thing really soured me. I think David could put a stop to this today if he wanted to. If this isn't reason enough to support Jaime, I don't know what is. It is disgusting.
What that person failed to say is that they are now, and had been literally for months before this was written, a full-blown Herrera supporter; as they were when they sent out this sniveling email behind my back. Excusing their version of political treason as a reason to support a candidate based on what someone ELSE writes without that candidate's knowledge, approval or input goes a long way to explain why that email was sent in the first place and behind my back in the second place.

And if that's not a reason to dump the local GOP organization, I don't know what is.

How the GOP protects establishment candidates.

I was checking out Crosscut today, and read one of those pro-cheerleader articles divining the tea leaves for the upcoming election.

The writer was Chris Vance, the GOP chair who was running the show for most of our precipitous decline in the legislature.

Some of what he said made sense, of course.... it's hard to be wrong about everything.

But what struck me was his take on Herrera?Castillo in the 3rd CD; you can read about it here; what he had to say was no different then most Herrera kool aid drinkers, and as a certified member of the Bellevue Mafia, I suppose his remarks were to be expected.

What Vance left out of his column (and it's hard to believe the oversight wasn't deliberate) was that the poll was ordered, orchestrated and paid for by Herrera.

He also failed to mention the crosstabs, because the crosstabs haven't been, and won't be, released.

Furthering that old saw that a grand jury could indict a ham sandwich, the Herrera Herd and the rest of the establishment have been babbling like blithering idiots over this worthless poll with a sample of, ahem, 300; that was designed to do what it has done; garner hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of earned media for Ridgefield Barbie.

Vance's pro-Herrera propaganda without questioning the veracity and source of such a poll, without even MENTIONING that the poll was bought and paid for by Herrera.... well, was that a question of competence, or a deliberate act?

Either way, the poll is worthless without the release of the supporting information. And you would think that Vance, in his eagerness to stuff Herrera down our throats here in a district within which he does not reside, would have known that.

The cynic in me is fairly certain he does.

But hey. What do I know?

Chris Boyd withdraws from WA03; endorses David Castillo.

Given Herrera's efforts through surrogates to keep Chris Boyd in the race to draw votes from Castillo, it comes as something of a blow to their camp that Chris ignored their efforts and withdrew today while on the Victoria Taft show (KPAM 860) as he endorsed David Castillo for Congress.

Boyd, a disabled combat veteran made a very tough call while ignoring the efforts of some in the Herrera camp to keep him in... efforts that included an offer to pay his filing fee.

Lew Waters has an excellent write up on this young man,
who rose to the occasion once again in service to his country.

We will remember this selfless act.

Herrera foolishly cements her cred as THE establishment candidate in the WA03.

Utilizing that political situational awareness of a board fence that the SEIU Queen is famous for, Ridgefield Barbie blabs out her establishment cred in an anti-establishment year:
You can read more about the event and the remarks of former U.S. Senator Slade Gorton, U.S. Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers and Senator Joe Zarelli at the link below.
Yeah, well, I read it all right:

The absurdity of Herrera "Staying true" to anything.

It wasn't that long ago that my senator, Joe Zarelli, was taking a very, very hard look at running for Congress.

His unemployment debacle has cost him any chance at higher office... anywhere... and that fact sunk in when he made the decision to avoid that kind of embarrassment and endorse his former intern-for-a-few-weeks for Congress.

In the paper, however, Zarelli made a curious observation so far from true that it strains additional credulity:
“She’ll go there carrying the banner of the Republican Party, but what is more important is that she will stay true to the party’s principles,” Zarelli said.
Really?

Do Republican principles include co-sponsoring and voting for SEIU legislation?
More:

Yes, there is no question that the empty suit known as McMorris's Puppet is a symptom of the disease known as old-school Republicans.

Let's not forget: McMorris Rogers was part of the crew that spent us into massive debt while the GOP controlled both the House and the Senate. And we want MORE of that, controlled by McMorris to boot?

The Bizarro World of a Herrera supporter: Nansen Malin attacks David Castillo, and then says we should "Stop the Attacks."

The following is one of THE most hypocritical, self-serving piles of crap I have EVER read.

Here, unedited and for your information, are the self-important stylings of Nan Malin, Pacific County GOP chair and all-too-typically-delusional Jaime Herrera supporter.

Stop the Attacks, Let’s Elect Republicans
By Nansen at May 7th, 2010.

I’m a conservative who spends a lot of time volunteering for Republican candidates. I give my time, money and efforts to forward campaigns of GOP candidates who bravely step forward to run for public office, but I draw the line when a Republican candidate chooses to make dishonest attacks on fellow Republicans instead of focusing on their own qualifications for office. Yesterday, Dick Armey of FreedomWorks circulated a troubling fundraising email for David Castillo.

In Washington State we have a top two primary. Each candidate is running for one of only two spots on the general election ballot. By choosing to attack only one other candidate, a fellow Republican, David Castillo and FreedomWorks are sending the clear message that they are ceding the first spot to the Democrats and are focused on using negative attacks to beat out another Republican for second place.

I don’t begrudge FreedomWorks inflating their candidate a little. If they want to call working for them on a grassroots campaign 10 years ago “a long track record of fighting on behalf of lower taxes and limited government”, fine. Having never held elective office, they are free to assign to David Castillo a record of conservative purity.

But lacking any real evidence that David Castillo is to the right of Jaime Herrera on the issues, they instead try to falsely define her record in the Legislature. These misrepresentations include falsely stating Herrera’s position on “Card Check” (she opposes it).

Jaime has made her position clear; she is adamantly opposed to compulsory unionism and Card Check, she has never supported them and never will. But you don’t just have to take her word for it. In 2008, Herrera was endorsed by every major business group in Washington State, including the Association of Washington Business, NFIB, Independent Business Association of Washington, Washington Restaurant Association and others. In her first full term in the House, fellow Republicans elected Herrera Assistant Minority Floor Leader. In this race, she has been endorsed by former Senator Slade Gorton, and former WA-03 US Representative Linda Smith (who I’m sure Dick Armey remembers from the “Class of ‘94”).

The names of WA-03 business owners who support Herrera are a virtual who’s who in the state. Indeed, people like Arch Miller, Jerry Nutter, Craig Stein, Larry Hoff and many others who drive WA-03 economics are on board with the Herrera campaign. Herrera’s list of endorsements also include prominent party leaders like Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers, Vice Chair of the GOP Conference, but also many State Legislators. It’s just not the way the grassroots like to see politics done here in SW Washington. Grassroots and Tea Party members who attended the recent caucus and conventions in the seven counties that make up the 3rd Congressional District voiced their support of Herrera. Cowlitz and Pacific Counties had unanimous votes at their conventions to give an unusual pre-primary endorsement to Jaime Herrera. Every one of these people fully vetted the issue of Jaime’s supposed union love and deemed it untrue. It’s just silly to suggest that these endorsements would go to a candidate who “votes on behalf of her union bosses”.

FreedomWorks is so out of touch with what is going on in the WA-03 that they missed the recent headlines. News flash - Big Labor is endorsing the Democrats in the race - Heck and Pridemore. Dick Armey needs to do his homework before sending out such a dumb email.

I know that politics ain’t beanbag. But with our current primary system, this kind of disreputable tactic seems unlikely to help get Republicans elected, and most likely to result in a general election with two Democrats. And we already know how those two will vote.

The one absolutely inexplicable thing that most Herrera supporters have is an uncanny ability to absolutely ignore the "inconvenient truths" of their cardboard cut-out of a congressional candidate, Ridgefield Barbie.

Nansen ignores ALL of the overwhelming evidence that Herrera is an SEIU tool. In fact, those letters as an acronym appear no where in her self-serving, hypocritical pap. She writes as if she and she alone makes the determination as to who will represent us in this district, and that kind of arrogance is sickening to me, personally.

Paragraphs like this:
FreedomWorks is so out of touch with what is going on in the WA-03 that they missed the recent headlines. News flash - Big Labor is endorsing the Democrats in the race - Heck and Pridemore. Dick Armey needs to do his homework before sending out such a dumb email.
Represent the same kind of slimy politics practiced by the Obama campaign

Because here's an even BIGGER newsflash, Nansen, one you deliberately left out:

Three locals from the SEIU HAVE endorsed Jaime Herrera for state representative.

Yet Nansen writes like that is utterly meaningless, and we shouldn't pay any attention to it. You know, like she doesn't?

Nansen's whine is as steaming a pile of rank hypocrisy as I have EVER seen. And in my line of work, I've seen a lot.

Here's the response I left on that garbage heap quoted above:

You'll forgive me if I disagree, won't you?

I'm taken by how you request that the "attacks be stopped," directly after you tweeted those attacks and wrote one here... right now. And that's what your column here is; an attack. With you and many other Herrera supporters, the only alternative is to support her. Anything else is an "attack."

Jaime Herrera cosponsored and voted for an SEIU-sponsored and endorsed bills. Herrera took funding from the SEIU. Herrera helped the democrats spend $229 million dollars, the last money of our reserve fund. Herrera bailed on session to attend a fund raiser in DC... a fundraiser where, it appears, that the only money she got there was from McMorris Rogers.

Castillo has more education; more experience, has served his country in the military, has worked in the private sector, and has done things Herrera, who hasn't even lived here for 11 of the past 13 years... and who told me to my FACE that her absence and her multiple internships was "just like being in the military..." could only dream of.

That you "can't be convinced" that Castillo is to the "right of Jaime Herrera on the issues," it is only because you refuse to see with your eyes open. No one who refuses to be convinced ever will be.

Herrera has been ENDORSED BY SEIU. She has ACCEPTED DONATIONS FROM THE SEIU, and as a result, CO-SPONSORED AND VOTED FOR THEIR LEGISLATION.

You write: "But lacking any real evidence that David Castillo is to the right of Jaime Herrera on the issues, they instead try to falsely define her record in the Legislature. These misrepresentations include falsely stating Herrera’s position on “Card Check” (she opposes it)."

Maybe. Maybe not. But your deliberate omission of Herrera's SEIU activities speaks for itself, and the next time when you're all upset about dishonesty, perhaps you should take a good long look at a close up in a mirror... because you will SURELY see it there.

That you call pointing out these facts about Herrera an "attack" goes to the heart of this entire matter. Any time anyone disagrees with the many questionable and obvious liberal actions of Herrera, we get columns like this or even more vicious.

There was not one factual thing incorrect in the Armey email. Not one.

Where Jaime claims TO BE "OPPOSED TO COMPULSORY UNIONISM," the very bill SHE COSPONSORED AND VOTED FOR REQUIRED THAT very thing.

She voted PRECISELY the way her SEIU donors WANTED her to vote. Only FOUR Republicans voted for that bill; not even her seatmate voted for it, not did her leader.

That you consistently ignore that fact causes me to question YOU. YOU have a political position of some sort; YOU are SUPPOSED to be fair and impartial, yet THIS is what we get from you?

I'm extremely troubled by your selective fact set. I'm extremely troubled that even in the face of undeniable evidence, you would engage in this kind of hypocrisy. If you're going to go after someone, use ALL the facts, not just the ones you find convenient.

You babble about Herrera's endorsements while ignoring Castillo's. You ignore Castillo's superior experience and overlook the FACT that the entirety of her political career is orchestrated and produced by McMorris Rogers, while touting that support as if it's some sort of big deal.

YOU have never been represented by this waste of space. *I* have. And I would vote for Castillo every damned day and twice on Sunday as a result.

Because unlike you, I'm not blinded by the cult of personality surrounding this woman who lacks sufficient experience and conservative credentials to operate a shoeshine stand, let alone get elected to Congress. And your inability to address ALL of the facts makes you unfit to be elected to the position of 5th grade hall monitor.

Getting Republicans elected should never require the suspension of reality, as your selective view of the term clearly shows you have done, nor should it require me or anyone else to suspend our disbelief.

Your worldview and support of Herrera proves that you have done both. But I haven't, nor will I. And I will endorse, work for AND finance WHOEVER runs against Herrera as long as she is in politics.

But then, facts and reality are on my side. What's on yours?

Herrera-supporter Barnett down.... who to go?

With the confirmation of Barnett's departure from the 18th District race, the natural question is this: who's next?

The front runner has to be Ann Rivers, if by no other measure than her fund raising. With Barnett's departure, Rivers now has roughly twice the money of all other Republican challenge candidates combined in the 18th, and a $23,000 lead over the democrat candidate.

Vick is a distant second at $5195; followed by newcomer Anthony Bittner at $4371, Robert Dean at $3150, failed Congressional candidate and now perennial candidate for SOMETHING Jon Russell at $3124.

Drilling down further, Vick raised all of his reported money over a 2 week period in March; Bittner has used his family connections well but his reports only show sporadic ability to get the cash; Dean seems to have given up on the fund raising circuit, having only raised $100 since the 23rd of February; Russell appears to be violating PDC requirements by filing after the deadline, not filing electronically and not listing the dates of his deposits; seems to show that his congressional fund raising difficulties continue at the state representative level as well.

A "winnowing process" that SHOULD have taken place last February and should NOT have been made public is now underway. Will the process be decided by political viability, or insider party glad-handing?

The biggest problem the party has is that it cannot force anyone to do anything. Anyone "vetted" out of this process can, and likely will, tell the party to drop dead.

At a minimum, the Party hierarchy has incompetently shared it's strategies and concerns with the democrats; does expressing concerns to the public about the impacts of a second democrat in the race make it LESS likely or MORE likely that such a candidate will be found?

There is absolutely no good that can come from this bizarre and months-late process given how vested all of the candidates, their supporters and donors are. None. It's just too late.

So... who has viability here and who doesn't?

Do you really have to ask?

The truth about the so-called "On The Radar" list.

So, Jaime Herrera made a really BIG deal out of getting her name on the "On The Radar" list at the NRCC.

I thought it was odd that such a weak candidate, given her inside pull and baby-sitting by McMorris Rogers and Slade and all that, someone with no experience, someone with less credibility, someone who hadn't even lived in the district for 11 out of the past 13 years... someone who had never worked in the private sector, someone lacking in education or what I would like to think was "congressional-level intelligence" and someone with such a weak fund raising quarter and so on, rose to the level of any particular of listing by anyone... let alone the NRCC.

But of course, the reason for such an asterix after her name is McMorris-Rogers, who Jaime poured coffee for (relatively speaking) as a low level staffer in McMorris's office for a couple of years.

Or so I thought.

But as it turns out, the real deal is this:

Republican operatives are quick to point out that their third-tier "On the Radar" candidates need to meet only very basic goals -- for example, build a website, have a Federal Election Commission reporting system in place, have available a very basic media package, etc. -- and that candidates in this category don't necessarily have a path to victory yet.

I had no idea that the criteria was, politically speaking, that you could walk upright and chew gum and make that list.

Until now.

Combining this with her Obama-like campaign:
...the young legislator came across as super-serious, self-possessed and somewhat
scripted. She brought to mind memories of Tracy Flick, the student body
politician played by Reese Witherspoon in the movie "Election."

Herrera used the word "prioritize" several times, talked vaguely about "changing directions", and used such timeless Republican bromides as: "An effective jobs program is not going to come from Washington, D.C.

Where she tries to sell herself is on personality alone (of course, missing the big picture, since she has no personality) without specifics. And between her total lack of any appreciable qualifying background and her penchant for speaking only in glittering generalities, why, we have...

Obama lite.

Maybe not in her political view, which is entirely what McMorris Rogers wants it to be, but in the idea of electing an empty suit that has no clue what she's doing, save for what she's told to do.

As it turns out, under the criteria set to make this "list," David Castillo should also have been included. Here, the influence of McMorris-Rogers can be clearly seen as there's no mention of Castillo anywhere in NRCC land; not because he doesn't merit said mention, but because, like her appointment to the 18th District seat, an appointment fixed almost from the very beginning; the fix was in to put Herrera on the list and to keep Castillo off it.

You truly do learn something new every day. Like it isn't nearly as big of a deal as Herrera and her cult-followers have made it out to be.

One of many problems facing Herrera is that she will be crushed in every debate she goes to by David Castillo. He is going to become like a shock collar to her, where every time she opens her mouth, some one's going to press the button and her face will screw up like she's just bit into a lemon. She will come to find out that charm and personality (of which she has neither) will take you only so far before you become a political footnote.

And with any luck at all, come August, that's what she will be.
