Well, this is the 9th year I've been in business for myself, so all that begs
the question: since no one in this house IS unemployed... why were we
"invited?"
We were "invited" because this whole thing is a crock.
We were "invited" because this isn't even a thinly veiled campaign piece...
as despicable as the scammer who sent it.
Tens of thousands of families WHO ARE EMPLOYED were invited in this obvious
abuse of the franking (postage) privilege.
This woman claims to be a Republican. With rip-offs like this, I'm ashamed
to call myself one.

So, Jaime got her committee. The question: will she do anything with it?
It's
been my position all along that our congresswoman, Jaime Herrera, has
completely supported the CRC, the bridge replacement, light rail and
tolls.
Her actions, to date, have accomplished absolutely nothing that changes any of this. Her PUBLIC face on all of this is that she's looking out for us and trying to force some sort of vote. She claims that she wants an utterly worthless, gerrymandered CTran district vote when, at a minimum, it should be for the entire project and the vote should be the entirety of Clark County since the entirety of Clark County will be expected to pay for this crap. In fact, she's been smacked around by Tim Leave-it like he's been paying her for it... actions that should have resulted in the immediate death of this entire project as an abject lesson.
Herrera wants us to think she's somebody; her carefully crafted press release tells us:
Actually, her getting this gig is not an honor. After all, she's just going to be another back bencher, last in seniority out of 46 members, a woman who couldn't even get the Republicans on her committee to agree with her amendment... and how incompetent is that?
She was picked, more or less at random, and certainly not based on what she's actually DONE, because that equals precisely zip.
So, here's the question: now that she's been given this "tremendous honor," will she do anything with it?
No more then she has done, I'm thinking.
And that's precisely dick.
Gee... you suppose she'll have a townhall meeting about THIS?

When Tea Party Freshman Republicans betray us: bring back earmarks
Unbelievable hypocrisy.
I just finished reviewing a letter with signatures quite surprising (Both for who signed it... and who didn't sign it) wherein 65 REPUBLICAN freshmen House members, including members like Allen West (Who I have been a personal fan of since his rise) put their names to this missive... a letter requesting the return of earmarks.
Currently, House GOP rules state:
How many of these turn coats ran on a platform of opposing earmarks?
Who didn't sign the letter?
Our own Jaime Herrera.
How bizarre is that? Herrera, who has shown her politics to be somewhat charitably "malleable." But I reviewed every signature on the letter, a pdf located here, and hers is not on it.
I would have bet my dog it would have been there, and it wasn't. I was, and am, stunned, that one of the least likely people I've ever known to take a principled stand would actually do so against the tide of the rest of her class.
There may well be hope for her yet.

That’s where supporters think they’ve found a loophole. The benefits aren’t “limited,” they say, because they don’t specify a particular company. The GOP was supposed to be better than that.

You ever wonder why we never see Jaime Herrera on national media but we frequently see Allen West?
I don't. The reasons are obvious.
It's unfortunate that we're stuck with a back-bencher in Congress who will never get anything done..
Allen West once again isn’t backing down, even when Soledad O’Brien tries to press him on his comments about the the CPC members having a commie ideology. She even quotes the Vice Chairman of the National Communist Party repudiating his comments, but West’s response to those remarks is the best part of this whole clip:

More idiocy from Herrera: Clark County Residents Support Light Rail Vote.
So, Jaime has figured out (as if she didn't know... hell, my Cavalier Spaniel knew) that we want a vote on loot rail.
We WANT a vote on ALL of this garbage... NOT just light rail... so did Herrera have to waste $31,000 of our taxpayer dollars for a campaign piece masquerading as a "mail survey" to figure that out?
If Herrera had a clue, she could make all funding for this project conditional on a county-wide vote.
No vote?
No funds.
So far, her half-hearted, amateurish efforts have accomplished absolutely nothing except to prove that her efforts are, well, half-hearted and amateurish.
One question: If Murray were to make this conditional, do you think SHE couldn't get it done?
Of course she could.
And now that Herrera finally "knows" what she already knew...
What is she going to DO about it?
My guess?
Absolutely nothing.

Herrera wastes $31,000 on a campaign piece disguised as a questionnaire about the obvious.
Jaime Herrera burned through $31,000 of OUR money to put out a mailer designed to accomplish one thing, and one thing ONLY: To make people think she actually gives a damn.
Herrera is well-acquainted with methods of wasting our money; she managed to blow through almost $500 for food over a 3 day boondoggle trip while she was Cathy McMorris's gofer.
And now, she can fry 10's of thousands of our dollars on an utterly meaningless mailer, when she could have, for example, done a phone poll... if she didn't, of course, already know.
In fact, this mailer isn't even a thinly disguised campaign piece.
First, her lie that a "new Interstate 5 Bridge is necessary."
It isn't. It's a massive waste of time that will enslave future generations to her downtown Vancouver controlled vision of how we should live.

That those wasting their time responding to this campaign piece have to pay their own postage tends to speak for itself... and what it says is that she doesn't want to hear it.
It's bad enough that she's incompetent. But this kind of wasteful crap isn't what she was sent to DC for.

The Columbian continues to protect Jaime Herrera
Apparently, the Columbian has adopted a rescue-congresswoman named Jaime Herrera.
Abused and beaten by Tim leave-it, Jaime Herrera looks and acts like one of those poor doggies in the Humane Society commercials on TV, where for only 1$19 per month, etc, you can end that kind of thing.
Back here in her district (A place she's rarely been over the past 15 years or so, including never living here for the 11 years before she was appointed to the legislature in 2007) where she reuses to hold town hall meetings, unless you've been screened and/or bring your check book, we have the most important fiscal issue in the last several decades... and what is she doing about that?
Nothing.
So, the Columbian babbles about a bill she signed onto that passed out of committee.
Big whoop.
As a reminder, in the 3 years she occupied Olympia, if you will, she passed one bill... her kiddie bill (The same bill that all new members get to teach them the process... an agreed bill) and, except for voting to raise our debt ceiling in DC, she has accomplished precisely nothing during her back-bencher tenure.
The Columbian faithfully reprints her press releases. They're a crock, of course, worthless in the face of the CRC bridge/loot rail scam damage to our local economy looming on our horizon.
Lew Waters takes her to task over that, rightfully, because her efforts to date have done nothing to deal with this growing cancer in Clark County.
What was the Columbian's response?
Something INCREDIBLY lame:
What story have they done on Herrera's failure to achieve anything concerning the CRC?
None.
Technically, half the comments up under this press release are "off topic."
Which one gets the warning? Lew's... calling Herrera out for her inaction on the most pressing issue facing us for decades to come.
Altogether typical.
Never mind the fact that if the CRC scam is built, the $100,000,000 yearly vacuumed out for tolls will slaughter "small business" here locally... making Lew's observations directly on target.
Unless you're the Columbian.

If you are who you hang with, and Herrera is hanging with Laird... what's that make her??
Writing as if Jaime Herrera is paying him, John Laird seems to be acting as her paid apologist.
While keeping it focused on the issue of her "puppetry," Laird conveniently overlooks her incompetence and cowardice.
Since her anointment... I mean, election, what has she done?
Well, she's sold us out on the budget by voting to increase the debt ceiling a few times. Her buddy Romney thinks that's bad when Santorum does it... but doesn't seem to have a problem when Herrera does it. Why is that?
She's voted with the democrats on several occasions, selling out both her caucus, and us. Of course, Laird, ever the fringe-leftist, applauds that sort of political treachery... when, for example, has he ever congratulated a democrat for turning on his/her caucus?
That's to be expected, of course. Herrera sold us out several times during her unfortunate tenure in Olympia, co-sponsoring SEIU legislation and voting with the democrats to clean out the last $229 million in our state emergency fund... all in 2010... while passing a grand total of 1 bill during her 3 years of wasting the seat.
Herrera, contrary to Laird's protestations and damage control, is as owned by Cathy McMorris as General Lee's slaves. That she votes like she's in the democrat caucus is carefvully scripted... and approved... by McMorris herself.
Her incompetence is illustrated by the fact that Tim Leavitt has kicked the crap out of her and she, in return, has done nothing as a result. Her fake effort to get us a vote was, like Herrera herself, an abysmal failure; a failure that was MEANT to happen because she WANTS the CRC Project, she WANTS the bridge replaced and she WANTS light rail. Because if she didn't, she put a stop to this game.
Her cowardice is illustrated every day she refuses to hold open town hall meetings... a decision that a courageous, non-controlled person (They are terrified of an unscripted Herrera in public... unless it's in the friendly confines of a small room where there are a great many checkbooks open for her.) wouldn't consider making... and a decision that few members of congress... even the most rabidly liberal... don't make.
So, by all means, Mr. Laird. Keep shilling Jaime Herrera. Because there's little else I can think of that would damage her politically more than your support.

Contrasting Rep. Herrera with a random democrat Congresswoman: which one holds the town hall meetings?
Readers of any particular length of time are aware that I do not hold this district's representative in Congress, Rep. Jaime Herrera Buetler (She apparently found out she was married after she was elected to Congress) in particularly high esteem.
There are a wide variety of reasons for that, but not the least of these is her apparent inability to face her constituents in a town hall setting.
Part and parcel of the job, I believe, is the courage to face the people you represent... and people you DON'T represent... even if they don't bring a checkbook for the privilege.
Here's a democrat congresswoman getting nailed in one of her, open-to-all, even-those-she-doesn't-represent town hall meetings because of her support of the President's efforts to trample the First Amendment by ending the religious exemption to the requirement that birth control services be required on the part of religious employers.
I don't in any way agree with her positions. But compared to who we have, I can admire her courage... absent in our own representative.

Wow!… Rep. Kathy Hochul wasn’t expecting this.
The far left democrat held a town hall last night expecting to focus on Obama’s failed energy and economic policies, instead she was loudly booed and harassed by Catholics over Barack Obama’s anti-religious HHS mandate.

The packed crowd was critical of Hochul for supporting President Obama’s plan to require religiously affiliated employers, such as hospitals and schools, to provide full contraception coverage to female employees.
The plan was later altered. It now calls for those workers to get free contraceptive coverage from health insurers, thus sparing religious based groups, morally opposed to paying for birth control, from having to do so.

Just wondering: if Romney's people think "raising the debt limit" is bad...
...then why did Romney endorse Herrera?
Romney's super pac, "Restore Our Future," has trashed Santorum on a variety of issues. Many of the claims in these ads are "misleading," and gloss over Romney's own Gregoire-like performance in Massachusetts.
One of the issue's Romney's people raise is Santorum's votes to increase the debt limit.
What confuses me is that our own Congresswoman has also taken votes that would do precisely the same thing: raise our debt ceiling. She took votes that accomplished that outcome both last year and, apparently, this year.
Does that mean that Romney will not drop his endorsement of her?
I mean, after all, if it was so bad when Santorum did it... why isn't it bad when Herrera does it?

Lars Larson seems to have had the boobs pulled over his eyes: "Congresswoman Beutler Stands Up For Her District"
I was stunned to read this garbage on Lars Larson's Blog:
Was she "fighting" for us when she co-sponsored SEIU legislation in Olympia that would require day care workers to be unionized and the day care owners to pay their dues?
Was she "fighting" for us when she voted with the democrats to clean out the last of our state's emergency fund?
Was she "fighting" for us when she was one of two Republicans in the US House to vote to continue funding Obama's non-working "Emergency Mortgage Relief Program?"
Was she fighting for us when she voted to jack up the debt ceiling?
Is she "fighting" for us when she lacks the guts to hold town hall meetings?
That Larson can even remotely believe that this orchestrated nonsense concerning the CRC was anything but eye wash shows a level of political naiveté that I didn't believe him capable of showing.
The GOP runs EVERYTHING in the House. They run the committees, the agenda... and the votes. That this worthless scam (A vote in a gerrymandered CTran district instead of county or district wide? How is THAT "fighting" FOR us in stead of just FIGHTING us?) was designed to fail is obvious, and it shows one of two possible outcomes: she really doesn't WANT a vote but wants us to THINK she wants or vote, or she's too incompetent to line up her ducks ahead of time.
This congresswoman is a coward who won't face us unless we bring a checkbook.. and Larson actually think she fights for us?
I suggest he re-evaluates his perspective. Herrera was a miserable waste of time in the legislature, and she continues that tradition in Congress. DeFazio was no more capable of stopping this then Herrera was capable of stopping Obamacare... unless, of course, this was the outcome Herrera wanted.
There is no "try." There is only "do," or "no do," ESPECIALLY when the GOP controls the House.
And anyone "wowed" by this kind of nonsense really needs to go back to a high school current events class.

I like Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler. She always fights for the people she represents, just like she's supposed to. When other house members tried to strip out a provision she had put in that gave the locals a say in the CRC vote, she decided to defend not only herself, but her district.I find it impossible to believe that Larson actually believes this pap.
Despite opposition from the other side of the aisle, an impassioned Beutler just raised the intensity level. This issue brings up the argument that locals should decide local issues. That's the exact point that Congresswoman Beutler was trying to make, especially when Peter DeFazio spoke out.

Was she "fighting" for us when she voted with the democrats to clean out the last of our state's emergency fund?
Was she "fighting" for us when she was one of two Republicans in the US House to vote to continue funding Obama's non-working "Emergency Mortgage Relief Program?"
Was she fighting for us when she voted to jack up the debt ceiling?
Is she "fighting" for us when she lacks the guts to hold town hall meetings?
That Larson can even remotely believe that this orchestrated nonsense concerning the CRC was anything but eye wash shows a level of political naiveté that I didn't believe him capable of showing.
The GOP runs EVERYTHING in the House. They run the committees, the agenda... and the votes. That this worthless scam (A vote in a gerrymandered CTran district instead of county or district wide? How is THAT "fighting" FOR us in stead of just FIGHTING us?) was designed to fail is obvious, and it shows one of two possible outcomes: she really doesn't WANT a vote but wants us to THINK she wants or vote, or she's too incompetent to line up her ducks ahead of time.
This congresswoman is a coward who won't face us unless we bring a checkbook.. and Larson actually think she fights for us?
I suggest he re-evaluates his perspective. Herrera was a miserable waste of time in the legislature, and she continues that tradition in Congress. DeFazio was no more capable of stopping this then Herrera was capable of stopping Obamacare... unless, of course, this was the outcome Herrera wanted.
There is no "try." There is only "do," or "no do," ESPECIALLY when the GOP controls the House.
And anyone "wowed" by this kind of nonsense really needs to go back to a high school current events class.
