Jaime Herrera burned through $31,000 of OUR money to put out a mailer designed to accomplish one thing, and one thing ONLY: To make people think she actually gives a damn.

Herrera is well-acquainted with methods of wasting our money; she managed to blow through almost $500 for food over a 3 day boondoggle trip while she was Cathy McMorris's gofer.

And now, she can fry 10's of thousands of our dollars on an utterly meaningless mailer, when she could have, for example, done a phone poll... if she didn't, of course, already know.

In fact, this mailer isn't even a thinly disguised campaign piece.

First, her lie that a "new Interstate 5 Bridge is necessary."

It isn't. It's a massive waste of time that will enslave future generations to her downtown Vancouver controlled vision of how we should live.

Herrera Beutler said in her mailer that a new Interstate 5 bridge is necessary, but “the question is what kind of bridge do we need to replace it?”

The problem, of course, is that when you start out with a lie, everything that follows is typically untrue as well.

That those wasting their time responding to this campaign piece have to pay their own postage tends to speak for itself... and what it says is that she doesn't want to hear it.

It's bad enough that she's incompetent. But this kind of wasteful crap isn't what she was sent to DC for.

The Columbian continues to protect Jaime Herrera

Apparently, the Columbian has adopted a rescue-congresswoman named Jaime Herrera.

Abused and beaten by Tim leave-it, Jaime Herrera looks and acts like one of those poor doggies in the Humane Society commercials on TV, where for only 1$19 per month, etc, you can end that kind of thing.

Back here in her district (A place she's rarely been over the past 15 years or so, including never living here for the 11 years before she was appointed to the legislature in 2007) where she reuses to hold town hall meetings, unless you've been screened and/or bring your check book, we have the most important fiscal issue in the last several decades... and what is she doing about that?

Nothing.

So, the Columbian babbles about a bill she signed onto that passed out of committee.

Big whoop.

As a reminder, in the 3 years she occupied Olympia, if you will, she passed one bill... her kiddie bill (The same bill that all new members get to teach them the process... an agreed bill) and, except for voting to raise our debt ceiling in DC, she has accomplished precisely nothing during her back-bencher tenure.

The Columbian faithfully reprints her press releases. They're a crock, of course, worthless in the face of the CRC bridge/loot rail scam damage to our local economy looming on our horizon.

Lew Waters takes her to task over that, rightfully, because her efforts to date have done nothing to deal with this growing cancer in Clark County.

I would much rather she be calling for an investigation into the incompetence we continue to see related to CRC, than sending out mailers asking if we need to have a vote of the people on it. Haven't we been calling for and being promised that since before she went back to D.C.

What story have they done on Herrera's failure to achieve anything concerning the CRC?

None.

Technically, half the comments up under this press release are "off topic."

Which one gets the warning? Lew's... calling Herrera out for her inaction on the most pressing issue facing us for decades to come.

Altogether typical.

Never mind the fact that if the CRC scam is built, the $100,000,000 yearly vacuumed out for tolls will slaughter "small business" here locally... making Lew's observations directly on target.

Unless you're the Columbian.

Even though it will result in hundreds of cancelled subscriptions if it comes to pass, the Columbian continues to both rabidly support this program and those, like Herrera, shilling it. God knows why.

Writing as if Jaime Herrera is paying him, John Laird seems to be acting as her paid apologist.

While keeping it focused on the issue of her "puppetry," Laird conveniently overlooks her incompetence and cowardice.

Since her anointment... I mean, election, what has she done?

Well, she's sold us out on the budget by voting to increase the debt ceiling a few times. Her buddy Romney thinks that's bad when Santorum does it... but doesn't seem to have a problem when Herrera does it. Why is that?

She's voted with the democrats on several occasions, selling out both her caucus, and us. Of course, Laird, ever the fringe-leftist, applauds that sort of political treachery... when, for example, has he ever congratulated a democrat for turning on his/her caucus?

That's to be expected, of course. Herrera sold us out several times during her unfortunate tenure in Olympia, co-sponsoring SEIU legislation and voting with the democrats to clean out the last $229 million in our state emergency fund... all in 2010... while passing a grand total of 1 bill during her 3 years of wasting the seat.

Herrera, contrary to Laird's protestations and damage control, is as owned by Cathy McMorris as General Lee's slaves. That she votes like she's in the democrat caucus is carefvully scripted... and approved... by McMorris herself.

Her incompetence is illustrated by the fact that Tim Leavitt has kicked the crap out of her and she, in return, has done nothing as a result. Her fake effort to get us a vote was, like Herrera herself, an abysmal failure; a failure that was MEANT to happen because she WANTS the CRC Project, she WANTS the bridge replaced and she WANTS light rail. Because if she didn't, she put a stop to this game.

Her cowardice is illustrated every day she refuses to hold open town hall meetings... a decision that a courageous, non-controlled person (They are terrified of an unscripted Herrera in public... unless it's in the friendly confines of a small room where there are a great many checkbooks open for her.) wouldn't consider making... and a decision that few members of congress... even the most rabidly liberal... don't make.

So, by all means, Mr. Laird. Keep shilling Jaime Herrera. Because there's little else I can think of that would damage her politically more than your support.

Readers of any particular length of time are aware that I do not hold this district's representative in Congress, Rep. Jaime Herrera Buetler (She apparently found out she was married after she was elected to Congress) in particularly high esteem.

There are a wide variety of reasons for that, but not the least of these is her apparent inability to face her constituents in a town hall setting.

Part and parcel of the job, I believe, is the courage to face the people you represent... and people you DON'T represent... even if they don't bring a checkbook for the privilege.

Here's a democrat congresswoman getting nailed in one of her, open-to-all, even-those-she-doesn't-represent town hall meetings because of her support of the President's efforts to trample the First Amendment by ending the religious exemption to the requirement that birth control services be required on the part of religious employers.

I don't in any way agree with her positions. But compared to who we have, I can admire her courage... absent in our own representative.

The far left democrat held a town hall last night expecting to focus on Obama’s failed energy and economic policies, instead she was loudly booed and harassed by Catholics over Barack Obama’s anti-religious HHS mandate.

The packed crowd was critical of Hochul for supporting President Obama’s plan to require religiously affiliated employers, such as hospitals and schools, to provide full contraception coverage to female employees.

The plan was later altered. It now calls for those workers to get free contraceptive coverage from health insurers, thus sparing religious based groups, morally opposed to paying for birth control, from having to do so.

...then why did Romney endorse Herrera?

Romney's super pac, "Restore Our Future," has trashed Santorum on a variety of issues. Many of the claims in these ads are "misleading," and gloss over Romney's own Gregoire-like performance in Massachusetts.

One of the issue's Romney's people raise is Santorum's votes to increase the debt limit.

The bits of Santorum's record cited in the ad are accurate. Santorum did vote to increase the debt limit five times, in 1997, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2006. Those votes, combined, raised the debt limit by nearly $3.5 trillion, according to a Congressional Research Service report

Apparently, no one disputes that he took those votes.

What confuses me is that our own Congresswoman has also taken votes that would do precisely the same thing: raise our debt ceiling. She took votes that accomplished that outcome both last year and, apparently, this year.

Does that mean that Romney will not drop his endorsement of her?

I mean, after all, if it was so bad when Santorum did it... why isn't it bad when Herrera does it?

I was stunned to read this garbage on Lars Larson's Blog:

I like Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler. She always fights for the people she represents, just like she's supposed to. When other house members tried to strip out a provision she had put in that gave the locals a say in the CRC vote, she decided to defend not only herself, but her district.

Despite opposition from the other side of the aisle, an impassioned Beutler just raised the intensity level. This issue brings up the argument that locals should decide local issues. That's the exact point that Congresswoman Beutler was trying to make, especially when Peter DeFazio spoke out.

I find it impossible to believe that Larson actually believes this pap.

Was she "fighting" for us when she co-sponsored SEIU legislation in Olympia that would require day care workers to be unionized and the day care owners to pay their dues?

Was she "fighting" for us when she voted with the democrats to clean out the last of our state's emergency fund?

Was she "fighting" for us when she was one of two Republicans in the US House to vote to continue funding Obama's non-working "Emergency Mortgage Relief Program?"

Was she fighting for us when she voted to jack up the debt ceiling?

Is she "fighting" for us when she lacks the guts to hold town hall meetings?

That Larson can even remotely believe that this orchestrated nonsense concerning the CRC was anything but eye wash shows a level of political naiveté that I didn't believe him capable of showing.

The GOP runs EVERYTHING in the House. They run the committees, the agenda... and the votes. That this worthless scam (A vote in a gerrymandered CTran district instead of county or district wide? How is THAT "fighting" FOR us in stead of just FIGHTING us?) was designed to fail is obvious, and it shows one of two possible outcomes: she really doesn't WANT a vote but wants us to THINK she wants or vote, or she's too incompetent to line up her ducks ahead of time.

This congresswoman is a coward who won't face us unless we bring a checkbook.. and Larson actually think she fights for us?

I suggest he re-evaluates his perspective. Herrera was a miserable waste of time in the legislature, and she continues that tradition in Congress. DeFazio was no more capable of stopping this then Herrera was capable of stopping Obamacare... unless, of course, this was the outcome Herrera wanted.

There is no "try." There is only "do," or "no do," ESPECIALLY when the GOP controls the House.

And anyone "wowed" by this kind of nonsense really needs to go back to a high school current events class.

Readers know I have zero respect for this worthless caricature of an elected official... and what little respect I DID have (Which was precisely zero) has now dropped into the negative territory with her latest Leave-it-like fraud: Herrera Beutler may try to block CRC light rail.

On the surface, her election-year hi-jinks look substantive. It LOOKS like she's ACTUALLY DOING SOMETHING!

She's not.

First, let there be no misunderstanding:

Barbie wants the bridge and loot rail scam and the generations-long tolls that will crush many who cannot afford the additional $1300 or more per-year in tolls in addition to paying Oregon income tax as a condition to working over there.

This election-year smoke and mirrors is just that.

Her dogged insistence on a "CTran district" vote instead of a county-wide or congressional-district wide vote FOR THE ENTIRE PROJECT proves this: she would, with her typical idiocy, enable a few thousand people in the gerrymandered CTran taxing district to assign taxes to a few hundred thousand of us who will not be allowed to vote.

Let's be clear: her ongoing failure to demand the largest possible vote instead of the smallest vote available shows the facts of the matter: and the fact is this: she's running a scam.

She WANTS Joe and Mary Sixpack to BELIEVE she cares. She WANTS them to ignore her message of cowardice and arrogance that is re-enforced every day, day in and day out, by her ongoing and corrupt failure to meet with the unfettered, unscreened public... unless, of course, they bring their check books....

Then it's "Hi! How the hell are you?"

Having effectively abandoned the northern end of the 3rd Congressional District to, essentially, zero congressional representation because of projected redistricting, Babs HAS to do SOMETHING to make us BELIEVE that she actually cares.

She doesn't.

Going back to yesterday's post, we must remain cognizant of the fact that the GOP controls every aspect of the House.

We control the committees. We control the agenda. We control what does and does not get passed in Committee or, for that matter, what gets passed in the House, period.

So, re-iterating, there can be only two reasons Bab's initial foray didn't pass yesterday: the first and most likely is that she didn't WANT it to pass, or, in the alternative, she's such an incompetent moron that she failed to do the work needed to GET it to pass. Remember: the GOP controls EVERYTHING. So, what does it mean that she lacked the chops to get this done?

The same thing it means that she lacked the testicular fortitude to kick Mayor McFly and Commissioner Slimeball in their miniature nards for publicly slapping her around as a result of the buffoonery of her "letters."

A friend asks: "Could the GOP BE this stupid?" Cathy McMorris for VP?

Regular readers of this blog are aware of the perfidy of McMorris's interference in our congressional district in her quest to first, become the "Jennifer Dunn" of Washington State and then, ultimately, to become President.

Recently, McMorris endorsed Romney in return for her brother getting the job of state coordinator or some such for the Romney campaign. The typical tit-for-tat, quid-pro-quo nonsense that lubes the tank treads of politics every day.

For newer readers, McMorris is the direct cause for the fact that we have Ridgefield Barbie as our representative in Congress, an utterly worthless, fake Republican who has had everything in her life handed to her on a silver platter... from her appointment to the State House, arranged by Marc Boldt and democrat Cowlitz county commissioners Axel Swanson and George Raiter.

Axel, of course, got a new job after he was blown out of office... working for Boldt.

At $80K a year.

That kind of underhanded crap is the norm, I guess, unless you have character and integrity. And that, ultimately, is why Boldt, Herrera and now McMorris are turning into a disaster.

Her name is being whispered as a VP candidate. That NO ONE is going to vote for Romney in Washington State because of McMorris is secondary to the fact that she played the system to get what she wants. Obviously, she's good at that, to give the devil her due.

But her desire to play politics trumps her desire to do what is right (And her interference in the 3rd Congressional District to stick an empty-suited staff stooge into the job was not right) and any politician who puts ambition ahead of what's best for the people is frightening.

On the plus side, if she took this chance, we'd at least be rid of her in this state, and that's hardly a bad thing.

That will require, as a first step, a Romney nomination... because no one else would have her.

But the reason this won't happen is first, Romney would need a VP candidate that would have a chance to deliver that state's electoral votes. No one will need them by the time our "polls" close, and no one but Obama will get them from this state anyway.

Second, McMorris brings zero throw weight or gravitas. There's be a splash because of her gender, but after that... what has she accomplished?

Even the article states:

McMorris Rodgers, who was elected in 2004, has one distinct claim to fame: she's the only woman ever to give birth twice while serving in Congress. Her first child was born with Down syndrome.

And that's a reason... or qualification... to be VP? Eight years in Congress and your only achievement is to have a couple of kids?

Wowser.

But never over-estimate the GOP. If there's a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, they'll find it.

So yeah... we are, in fact, "that stupid." Just don't hold your breath waiting for it to happen.

A move by Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler to stop federal transit funding for the Columbia River Crossing without a local vote failed Thursday in House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee voting.

Oregon Congressman Peter DeFazio pulled language from a House transportation bill amendment that would have required a local vote on the Columbia River Crossing project. The amendment was drafted by Congresswoman Jaime Herrera-Beutler.

The Camas Republican has long said she can't throw her support behind the controversial $3.5 billion project, in particular the light rail component, without a public vote. However, her move Thursday before the committee is the first time she's attempted to block light rail unless there is public approval of the project, which would replace the Interstate 5 bridge, extend light rail to Clark College, and rebuild freeway interchanges on both sides of the Columbia River.

Her attempt to insert language in a bill that would require the public vote failed. Oregon Democratic Congressman Peter DeFazio pulled the language for debate, and succeeded in getting it pulled from the list of amendments.

He called the vote an earmark, which are currently prohibited in the House.

"I'm not sure what she’s trying to do here, except to perhaps excite people and appeal to a certain constituency in Vancouver -- I have no idea if it's a majority or minority," DeFazio said, adding such a referendum on the project would be the purview of local authorities. "For us to dictate that a city hold a referendum is outrageous."

Transportation and Infrastructure Committee members debate Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler's amendment that would have required a local vote on the Columbia River Crossing.

Herrera Beutler shot back that the wording -- while it does not apply to any other current project in the United States -- is not an earmark, drawing catcalls from Democrats. She also asked that DeFazio not attribute motives to her amendment.

What the Camas Manikin THINKS she gets is the idea out to her constituents that she at least TRIED to get us a vote, when, in fact, she did no such thing.

That way, she can go back to the people who own her like the 13th Amendment was a suggestion and reassure them that she doesn't really mean it when she says she wants a vote... so, not to worry, she's not REALLY going to do anything to stand in the way of their ability to rip off these unnecessary billions... while simultainiously trying to get her constituents to believe this waste of skin actually gives a rat's ass for what we want.

Well, here's a bulletin: she doesn't.

I have and continue to assert that she wants ALL of this project, including loot rail and tolls... and she wants it without a vote. All the rest of this is eyewash.

If she can't make this happen, then it shows that either she's not really trying OR she's even more worthless then I thought.

And frankly, that's fairly low down the scale.

This entire episode is bogus; the GOP controls the committee, the agenda... AND the vote.

If she REALLY wanted this... it WOULD have happened, and no democrat could stop it any more than the GOP could stop Obamacare.

It's that simple, really: she's convinced we're stupid... and, in fact, is counting on it.

Leave-it and Barbie: two politicians made for each other

We all know the deal about Tim "The Liar" Leave-it and Ridgefield Barbie.

The Liar was elected because he, well, lied deliberately and repeatedly about his stance on ripping all of Southwest Washington with his toll scam.

Ridgefield Barbie was elected because she was parachuted in here after an 11 year absence to scam the establishment nod to run for Congress.

She was utterly worthless in the Legislature, and has lived up to that accomplishment in Congress. She's proven herself gutless with her ongoing refusal to face her constituency unless they bring their checkbooks.

The Liar kicked her face in after a worthless letter asking for an equally worthless gerrymandered CTran tax district vote on loot rail.

The Camas Manikin has the ability to kill the entirety of this project... by herself... if her demands aren't meant.

She can end the funding for all of this at the federal level. She has the ability to make sure this entire project is put to a countywide vote, and her worthless letter to The Liar was designed to fool people into believing she actually wants a vote.

She doesn't.

Barbie supports the entirety of the CRC project; much like, come to think of it, Marc Boldt, who was the reason Babs got the appointment in the first place to the legislature.. since he made a deal with two male democrat county commissioners from Cowlitz... one of whom, Axel Swanson, now works for Boldt at an absurd $80,000 or so a year.

She doesn't WANT her constituency to BELIEVE that, so she sent a couple of letters asking for a vote.

The Liar, who mistakenly believes himself to be all that politically, caved her ass in... publicly.

She, had she been possessed of even an idea of what testosterone is for, could have beaten him around the head and shoulder reason with a loot rail bridge piling.

Instead, she did her nails... or something.

So, today, these two, neither possessed of an ounce of integrity or courage, "met." Now its all sweetness and light... and we, the people, are going to get screwed because of it... and her... and him.

Yup... they're made for each other, because they're exactly, precisely alike.

Worthless and a danger to our community for generations to come.

“I felt it was time and it was appropriate to sit down face to face with our congresswoman and discuss details of the Columbia River Crossing, look for common ground and work to bury the hatchet on previous public interactions and correspondence,” Leavitt, 41, said.

Leavitt and Herrera Beutler, 33, have sparred publicly over the CRC, exchanging letters calling each other’s motivations into question. Herrera Beutler has called for an immediate vote in the entire service district on a C-Tran sales tax increase for light rail and bus rapid transit. Leavitt has urged the board to take its time to ensure members have all the information they need before going to voters.

Demanding a vote from such a small number of people... people who can force tens of thousands of us who weren't allowed to vote to pay their tax shows how worthless she is.

This entire project SHOULD have had a county wide vote $140 million or so. Babs COULD have made that happen, and hasn't.

Figure that out.

Herrera Beutler said her last large town hall meeting got out of hand. People booed and hissed, and it began to resemble the “Jerry Springer Show,” she said.

At that town hall meeting in Vancouver last year, Herrera Beutler fielded angry questions about her support for restructuring Medicare and endured catcalls over her vote for the controversial Republican 10-year budget blueprint that included the Medicare language.

A woman in attendance told Herrera Beutler after the meeting that she was planning to ask a question but changed her mind because of the unruly environment.

“I’m not going to put everyone through that,” Herrera Beutler said.

The congresswoman said she will continue her coffees, which tend to be less publicized. Visitors to her website, http://herrerabeutler.house.gov, are invited to send her their telephone numbers so they can be alerted when a coffee is scheduled nearby.

A WOMAN? ONE fictional woman.

Here's a memo, Barbie: the CTran district vote that you're so hot and bothered about will be a tiny, tiny percentage of the electorate, and it will in o way represent anything CLOSE to what your "constitiuents" think about this rip ff, save for the few thousand who will be allowed to vote to assign these taxes/fees/tolls to the rest of us.

In the article, she babbled:

Yet at the same time, the freshman Republican told The Columbian’s editorial board a vote on light rail would give her a better idea of local support for the $3.5 billion highway, light rail and bridge project.

Fine... IF it's a county-wide vote instead of that gerrymandered, all-the-no-votes-silenced vote that she seems to favor.

But it won't be. And when she mumbles THIS:

While she said she’d like to see an overall up-or-down vote on the entire project, she said that legally and practically, a C-Tran vote on the operations and maintenance of light rail is the best route. Should the measure pass, then she said she knows her constituents support the plans as they stand. If it fails, then Herrera Beutler said the need for a new bridge does not go away, but “it does mean we’re going to have to redraw things.”

She's flat, fricking lying.

"Should the measure pass...." are you fricking KIDDING me?

65,000 commuters will be kept from voting if they live out of the tiny CTran district, cut to force us to pay the tax while simultaneously keeping us from having any say on the issue.

She will have no idea "what her constituents" think about this, because hundreds of thousands of us WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO VOTE.

This vote, to have ANY goal of showing her "what her constituency thinks," MUST BE COUNTY WIDE< IF NOT REGION WIDE. And if there ARE legal reasons why that can't happen (and, of course, there aren't) then SHE should set about to fix them legislatively... instead of sticking her finger up her nose and saying, "... oh, gee, well, I guess I'll just keep pushing this sham vote..."

My God, that woman is stupid.

She is an embarrassment. I would almost vote for another Obama before I would ever, EVER, vote for her.

With the GOP's betrayal of the people of the United States with this con job that fixes NOTHING in our budget, I've got to say this in words even Ridgefield Barbie can understand:

I get that she's all a flitter about avoiding "default." But this is where I remind Babs that when it comes to cowardice, a hero only dies once.

In viewing all of this, Congressman Hinton has only one question: does this legislation SOLVE THE PROBLEM?

Of course not.

It's so far from "solving" anything that I am... again... ashamed of the party I have worked so hard and sacrificed so much for over the years.

NOW is the time to address the issue. People like Barbie lack the courage to confront the issues NOW, either not knowing or caring that as time goes on, this problem will get worse... and worse. Ultimately, the trouble surrounding our impending bankruptcy, which is still confronting this Nation, will make this controversy look like a fender-bender.

This scam has no cuts. This scam changes nothing. This scam makes no changes while forking over ANOTHER $2.4 trillion for Obama to waste, making the GOP WILLING participants in our fiscal rape... just as guilty as the fringe leftists that have put us in this position in the first place.

More stupidity: How Obama screwed the GOP and us all on the debt ceiling scam.

So, the news is out: The deal is cut and we're screwed.

The claim?
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Ending a perilous stalemate, President Barack Obama and congressional leaders announced agreement Sunday night on an emergency deal to avoid to avert the nation's first-ever financial default. The arrangement would cut more than $2 trillion from federal spending over a decade.
This is an out and out lie.

The "deal," "cuts" nothing.

That's right, I said it: There will be NO cuts.

What the "deal" does for a short time is reduce the increases scheduled for upcoming budgets.

NO budget will be ANY SMALLER then the budget we have now.

Only in DC and Olympia does a "cut" somehow equate to spending hundreds of billions more then we are spending now.

And the GOP, including that clueless moron representing us in Congress now, will go along with this... this.... abortion.

And now, as we hurtle over the cliff both parties are shoving us over, we have to wonder: what was all the fuss about? After all, we now all know that Greece, Ireland, Portugal and Spain are the models we're following. Who in their right minds believes for one second that under these conditions, our outcomes will be any different?

Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits?

You and I don't have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does.

Because, after all, with clowns like this running the show, it ISN'T there.

And now, these same idiots are reminding people of their stupidity, much like the Camas Manikin and her colleagues screwed up handling Reid's scam plan and the payroll tax cut extortion, instead of sticking it out and seeing it through.

And now? Now we get to fork over ANOTHER trillion-plus so Barbie's democrat buddies and Obama can vaporize it and bury us under an even bigger mountain of debt... $16.4 trillion or so.

For South Sound residents, there’s a whole lot to like about the new congressional district boundaries drawn by the Washington State Redistricting Commission.

Going into this highly partisan battle – which will go a long way in determining the makeup of Washington’s next congressional delegation – we pleaded with the four redistricting commissioners to make Olympia the heart of the new 10th congressional district. That’s precisely what the commissioners did, and we owe them a big thank you for the favor.

The state was awarded a new district based on population growth as counted in the 2000 census. The four commissioners – two Democrats and two Republicans – have spent the better part of the year dividing the state into 10 congressional districts with almost equal population in each.

For the last 10 years, Thurston County residents have not been well served with a large portion of the county in the 3rd Congressional District and much of the Lacey and east county area in the 9th Congressional District.

Rep. Adam Smith, the eight-term congressman from the 9th District, is a north Tacoma resident. He has paid attention to Thurston County residents and their issues, and as a Democrat fits well with the progressive majority that dominates the political scene in the capital city area.

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for Republican Jaime Herrera Beutler, the congresswoman from the 3rd Congressional District. The Vancouver-area resident has all but ignored this end of her district since her election a year ago. She declined to open a permanent office at the northern end of the sprawling district, despite the concentration of constituents here.

Even Thurston County Republican Party Chairman John O’Callaghan admits that Herrera Beutler is not a frequent visitor. O’Callaghan said the congresswoman made a few visits early in her term and held a small-group meetings over coffee with Tenino-area residents. Republicans also held a barbecue fundraiser for Herrera Beutler last summer but O’Callaghan said, “I haven’t seen her since.”

It's not easy having a cowardly slimeball for a congresswoman, especially one that works so hard to shaft us by voting with her fellow leftists, the democrats infesting our government.

Once again, congrats to the Camas Manikin, so bumblingly inept that they'd toss her off a cliff before they'd allow her to face her constituency without being told what, and how, to respond to them.

I've come to believe that the Camas Manikin must have some incriminating video or something, because this flagellating congratulatory crap must be driven by something like that, as the rag congratulates Ridgefield Barbie for selling us out:

Jeers: To critics of Congresswoman Jaime Herrera-Beutler. The Camas Republican has drawn constant criticism in her first year for allegedly being in lock step with House Speaker John Boehner rather than representing her district. Then, earlier this week, when she and six other Republicans defied Boehner and supported extending a payroll tax cut for two months, she drew a bunch of criticism, some from the same voices. It’s worth noting that she ended up on the right side of the issue. After days of posturing, the House finally went along with extending the payroll tax cut.

Naturally the carbuncle on SW Washington's butt would congratulate Barbie for ramming it in and breaking it off. That's the fringe left version of "compromise," as in, "do it our way."

That the GOP in the House was cowardly enough to cave on this issue does no make our local Empty Suit's political treason "the right side of the issue." As is most often the case, when it matters, she typically votes the way her democrat masters want.

She's had a history of that since her pathetic tenure in Olympia. So, what else is new?

She voted to add another trillion to the debt, she's a coward when it comes to town hall meetings (Well, unless you bring your checkbook) she voted for the absurdity of the Super Committee, voted for that massive failure of Obama's mortgage bailout (She was one of TWO GOP votes to continue THAT crap... where's the rag's "congratulations" about THAT?) she's refused to take a pay cut, instead going through the motions with a bogus, not-going-anywhere-eyewash-bill; she's routinely violated the so-called "72 hour" rule; she's scammed into the "women-as-victim" crap, gone so far as to attempt to make political hay out of 9/11 and on and on and on.

She screwed up, and screwed us in the process. And as a result, the morons in the lazy C congratulate her and chastise us.

Recently, both Tim "The Liar" Leave-it and Steve "The Liar" Stuart have been beating on Ridgefield Barbie like a rented step-mule over her weak, nonsensical, half-hearted, nebulous effort to make voting on the CRC scam some sort of issue.

The problems are many, the solution, simple.

First, the problems: The empty-suited, cardboard cutout of a faux member of congress is saying pretty please while these two morons are hitting her upside the head with a 2X4.

Second, while her letter talks about the concept that "...the people of Clark County should be allowed to decide through a public vote what they prefer, and what they are willing to pay for," she's not really referring to "the people of Clark County." She is, in fact, referring to those few people in the gerrymandered CTran tax district, social-service dependent people who have enslaved the rest of the county to pay for THEIR transportation system by excluding the 100,000 plus "no" votes to their incessant and unnecessary tax increases to build their ever-growing empire.

Third: she wants as many people as possible to BELIEVE she actually gives a rat's ass what we want, so she uses terms that are not the same, interchangeably. That is, she is deliberately confusing the phrase "people of Clark County" with the phrase "CTran," when the use of the term "CTran" and the "CTran Board" exclusively limit the vote she's sniveling about to the "CTran district."

Fourth, she falsely prices the bridge scam at $3.5 billion when the price, with interest, is closer to $10 billion.

Fifth, she then broadens this crap by saying

"But folks in Southwest Washington should be allowed to participate in the process. I call on this region’s elected officials to give them the chance to be heard in March of 2012."

So, Cowlitz County is in SW Washington. So is Skamania. Does that mean she's demanding that those people be allowed to vote as well?

Of course not. But what it DOES mean is that she wants people to actually believe their opinion matters.

It doesn't.

Because this is the fact of the matter:

The Camas Manikin could have put an end to this months ago: All she had to do was insure that Steve "The Liar" Stuart kept to his campaign promise to have a vote this past November... made to help him get re-elected.

And how could she do that?

Simple: PUBLICLY tell both the Liars Stuart and Leave-it: No county-wide vote.... no federal cash.

And that she has failed to tell them that... plus her demand that this be put to a vote in March of all things, guaranteeing the smallest possible turn out for any election, instead of November, which would guarantee the largest possible turn out... all of that means three things:

First, Barbie supports this abortion, wants the tax increase and wants to get this waste of money built.

Second, she will cave and she will do nothing to act to withhold any money.

Third: she wants to use this situation as a political prop, period.

The Manikin's problem with me? I've got 6 years on staff. i can read this kind of crap and decipher it all day, every day. And every time she has her people (Like SHE actually wrote any of this?) spew this kind of garbage, I'm going to be here to translate it.

When US House Republicans get stupid.... again

It wasn't that long ago that I've forgotten the idiocy of the House effort to shut down government when Gingrich was the speaker.

It's not that the effort was idiotic. It was that when you commit to an outcome, you have to have the testicular fortitude to see it through. Gingrich, of course, did not. And the GOP suffered as a result.

Fast forward to today.

The same thing applied to this most recent fight: Boehner and House leadership SHOULD have had the balls to see this through. The leftists generally and Obama particularly counted on Republican cowardice... and they weren't disappointed.
If you do not have the will to see this through.... then why the hell are you even trying it?

Now our own local congressional coward, Ridgefield Barbie, voted with the democrats to screw us... but then, that's what our empty-suited bimbette does.

Well that, and her cowardice exhibited with her lack of guts to face her constituency... unless they bring a check book.

So, what do we have to show for this garbage? Reid and Obama kicked our collective faces in on this deal, with Bab's help, of course, and we're all going to suffer for it.

Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Camas, was one of seven Republicans who split with their party and voted Tuesday for a payroll tax cut extension.

Her spokesman, Casey Bowman, said the motion was, in fact, to reject the Senate-approved bill to extend the tax cut for two months, and Herrera Beutler and six other Republicans voted against that.

Herrera Beutler released the following statement on her vote:

“I support continuing the payroll tax cut, extending unemployment insurance and making sure Medicare patients have access to the medical care they need. I had hoped the Senate would have agreed that a year extension is better than 2 months. But I know that families in Southwest Washington are struggling to make ends meet, and I wanted to eliminate any of their fear that this relief wouldn’t be in place January 1.”

The headline is misleading... but what else is new?

Other headlines that could have been used:

Barbie votes with democrats... again.

Short-sighted Herrera sells us all out.... again.

Clueless idiot votes against her own caucus... again.

Any of those would have been more accurate.

I especially like this:

Wow! Tim "The Liar" Leave-it throws ANOTHER punch at Ridgefield Barbie. How much longer is she going to put up with his crap?

Tim "The Liar" Leave-it continues to use Ridgefield Barbie as his personal punching bag. You've got to wonder how much longer our member of the United States House of Representatives is going to put up with that.

This has been going on for a long time. As I stated when she first came out on this issue, she had to see it through to the end. That meant fighting back hard and immediately when these clowns started jumping up and slapping her around like it was obvious The Liar Leave-it was going to.

In today's episode, Leave-it is just being Leave-it, and that means that he's being the usual, arrogant, self centered jerk that he is. Typically, he could care less about either the people's needs... or what the people want. Period.

No one could, with a straight face, call me a fan of Jaime Herrera. I believe the she is the worst possible choice for a seat in Congress. To say that she is all hat and no cattle is the complete under statement. In fact, I have several dozen blog posts at my Jaime Herrera Watch blog devoted to that subject.

But given her treatment by the Bobbsey Twins, Steve "The Liar" Stewart and Tim "The Liar" Leave-it, I wouldn't blame her if she cut off every Federal dime to Vancouver OR Clark County until those two slime balls learn to behave themselves.

And like our local carbuncle on the society of Southwest Washington, the democratian, these two morons seem to have confused "politics" with doing the will of the people.

Barbie knows two things: first that she stuck her neck out on the chopping block with her fake letter of faux concern. Second, she knows she's in a position to stop this project. She has a hard enough time facing her constituents unless they've got a check book in their hands. But the fact is that the people will know she's in a position to stop this project, and they're going to be wondering why that doesn't happen, if she's so concerned.

We all know that Tim "the liar" Leave-it will do a Sam Adams imitation and not bother to run for re-election. If he were moronic enough to run, he would be crushed and tossed out in the primary. No one wants to reelect a known liar.

While it appears that Ridgefield Barbie is relatively secure, she hates those kinds of embarrassing questions.

So its up to you Babs. Are you going to keep letting Leave-it and Stuart tap dance on your political skull?

Earlier I talked about Steve "The Liar" Stuart's babble about the CRC.

So much idiocy, so little time.

I missed part two of his morality play lecture, which looks like this:

Support the CRC project, oppose the project, as an elected official at least have an opinion, based on facts that have been discussed for 7+ years, instead of using political winds or rhetoric that is disrespectful to the thousands of commenters, 39 member taskforce, neighborhood advisory groups, env justice groups, etc., that worked hard to create the Federally approved project). As Mr. Miagi said in The Karate Kid - "Walk left side, safe. Walk right side, safe. Walk middle, sooner or later get squish just like grape." We need Jaime to espouse her opinion of the project, as the FHWA approved, at the very least so voters know what she thinks as they vote on anything. Just hiding until she has a vote in hand (from less than her whole district, and on only one piece) is not acceptable for anybody in a leadership position, especially our representative in Congress.

I get why Jaime wants to wait for a vote, regardless what it's on. Tim and I know better than most how divisive this project is, and how difficult (and muddy) the process has been to get to a Record of Decision. I personally have asked for things like a poll on how much people would pay for a toll given the benefits they'd receive, was promised it, and I haven't gotten it. I've asked for phasing plans because I don't believe the money will be there all at once, and have been promised we'll see something next year (only after the Governor's panel asked for it), and many other times I've been really frustrated with the process in time and cost.

HOWEVER, the bottom line is that this project needs to happen. We have the only lift span on I-5, with inadequate lane widths, no add-drop lanes so traffic comes in from a dead stop, no shoulders, an interchange system around the bridge that doesn't work, and the busiest port interchanges in our region within the project area. My point? I will continue to push for the financing pieces to be better for our local citizens (part of the reason to push Jaime to advocate as she promised in the campaign for more Federal $), but I support the project as it has been approved by every local agency of note, FTA, and now the Federal Highway Administration. Shouldn't we be able to expect the same clarity from our Congresswoman?:"

Among the many problems the liar has is his selective use of the term "facts."

There is a huge difference between self-serving figures from paid-off sources, designed and relied upon to support pre-ordained outcomes and because reality frequently interferes with a set agenda. As anyone paying attention knows, saddling 65,000 commuters 13 or 14 or $1500 a year or more for unnecessary, unwanted and unaffordable tolls, particularly without asking those same commuters FIRST, means that "facts" do not enter into this equation.

The Liar Stuart's reliance on these figures is the same kind of reliance that led to the local debacle of the Hilton and the even larger debacle at the Wenatchee Town Toyota Center (TTC) a huge disaster visited on the town of Wenatchee and surrounding local communities who are now in default for $42,000,000 because, like the clowns running government here locally refuse to allow a vote, the clowns in Wenatchee made the same short-sighted, politically-expedient decision that has come back to bite them in the butt... in spades.... all on an obviously unsupported, unneeded and unwanted facility that the local economy could not afford.

So when you start with a lie, everything that follows is a lie.

That so many people were involved in planning for this execution is meaningless. Unless or until a vote is held countwide, all these people did was design the rope. Ignoring you, Stuart; ignoring them and ignoring this effort is absolutely proper, given that people like The Liar Stuart, The Liar Leavitt and the others who were ramming this down our throats.... are all ignoring the people. You know.... the people who have to pay for this monstrosity?

The reason they've decided to ignore us is simple and obvious. They know there is no way this rip off would survive at the polls if it were put to a countywide vote.

The Liar Stuart seems so concerned about disrespecting those stuffing this down our throats because not everyone... in fact, hardly anyone... agrees with this lynching.... that he forgets all about the fact that he and those like him are disrespecting US... FAR more. The Liar Stuart lied to get reelected, promising an election on this scam for last November. But even then, the area he would have allowed to vote would have been so small there is no way that would've reflected the true will of the people he would govern.

At the Federal level, unfortunately for us all, our congresswoman is a coward. Tim "The Liar" Leavitt knocked her political teeth out when she tried to get us to actually believe she cared about what we wanted by asking for a worthless "district wide" vote on all of this.

The Liar Leavitt smacked her like a rented stepchild. And she folded like a cheap suit. In fact, she's disappeared on the issue completely.

While not surprising, that in no way means that she should become their butt boy.

In all of his tripe, the biggest lie of the many lies from the liar Stuart is this one:

HOWEVER, the bottom line is that this project needs to happen.

There are a wide variety of cheaper, more efficient and more impactful alternatives that make this project completely unnecessary. At the end of the day, the whole point of this exercise is to bring loot rail in from Portland. Exclusive of the fact that no one wants loot rail in Vancouver, that requirement will make this the most expensive transportation project for its distance in history, costing us 10 billion unnecessary dollars when cheaper alternatives and additional bridges could and should be built in such a way that almost all of The Liar Stuart and The Liar Leavitt's concerns are addressed... and we get MUCH more capacity, freight mobility and reduced congestion.

Ridgefield Barbie will ultimately cave. In an era where are our congresswoman should have a spine of titanium, we're cursed with a model who has a spine of spaghetti. Otherwise, she already would've punished both The Liar Stuart and The Liar Leavitt.

Why these two are so eager to screw us is simply beyond my comprehension. But neither the facts nor the non-existent and proven lack of support of the people justify the financial enslavement of generations of commuters to come for a project we do not want, do not need, and cannot afford.

So, the Camas Manikin has learned a valuable lesson: when you're a coward and you run away from a fight you can not only win, but dominate, those emboldened by your cowardice will keep coming after you, because, well, there's no reason for them to stay away.

I repeatedly warned the Empty Suit that we have the dubious distinction of "representing" us in Congress that if she did not forcefully and immediately smack Leave-it upside the head for his arrogance that was far beyond the pail that she would regret it.

Yesterday, I also pointed out that the people of SW Washington do not want this massive crap pile to be built, and that the genuine scum in government, those such as Leave-it and Stuart could care less what we want when it interferes with their agenda.

That these two lying scum... using the term advisedly since it does a disservice to lying scum everywhere to include them in the group, their perfidy so much worse then that; are living up to that billing by DEMANDING that Barbie join with them and "back the bridge."

Were I her, I would eat a hand grenade first.

But this is what typically happens when tyranny is visited on the masses.

Herrera's failure to kick Leave-it in his miniature testicles when he came after her the last time is bearing bitter fruit.

Her response should be immediate and lasting:

Herrera should publicly announce that in the face of SW Washington's documented opposition to this scam, visible though both the recent DOT poll AND the pro I-1125 vote, that she will now ensure the death of this project. She should then properly credit Tim "The Liar" Leave-it and Steve "The Liar" Stuart with the demise of the project and let them explain why, for so many years, they have chosen to ignore the overwhelming opposition to this scam, while she, Jaime Herrera, has been the only one to listen.

That's what she should do.

But she lacks the guts to do that or anything like it.

Expect her to cave, because all of her past double talk has been babble designed to confuse the voter into believing.... really believing, that she supports THEM and opposes the Liars.

If she did support the voters, she would have already killed this garbage pile.

Don't expect this little worm to cowboy up. Expect her to ignore this insult. But expect these slimeballs to keep coming after her... because she has yet to provide a reason for them to stop.

Let's get a couple of things straight: First, Jaime is a back-bencher. She has no power, no throw-weight, no muscle. Second, she lacks the guts of a scarecrow; Tim "The Liar" Leave-it folded her up like a cheap suit and stuffed her into a wall locker like a lost 8th grader at Prarie. Third, she's abrogated her position by lacking the guts to face her constituents... unless, of course, you bring a checkbook... then, there's no holds barred when it comes to access... oddly, not surprising.

Her histrionics on the floor of the house doesn't change any of that. All of which begs the issue: why does the democratian blow up Ridgefield Barbie like an inflatable version of a female Winston Churchill?

What's going on here?

She's not fit to carry Allen West's luggage, and this rag can't say enough nice things about her... as if she actually is doing something FOR us instead of TO us.

In short, legislatively, I wouldn't let her run an elevator for me, since she's as worthless in DC as she was in Olympia. And what did she do for us in Olympia? Well, as a brief reminder, she co-sponsored and voted for SEIU legislation that would have forced the unionization of child care workers and forced the day care owners to pay their dues... all while she helped the dems empty out our state's last $229 million in state emergency funds... jobs well done.

Yet the rag pumps her up like she's the Second Coming. And frankly, that is mystifying..

U.S. Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler took a tall stack of federal paperwork to the House floor Thursday as a prop to illustrate what she described as a burdensome regulatory climate that is hampering small-business growth.

As a member of the Small Business Committee, Herrera Beutler, R-Camas, helped shepherd the Regulatory Flexibility Improvement Act through the committee process and to the House floor. It passed Thursday on a 263-159 vote but must still clear the Senate. President Barack Obama has threatened to veto the measure if it makes it to his desk.

The bill requires federal agencies to consider the economic impact of their regulations on small businesses, and requires them to consider less burdensome alternatives if the impact is significant. It also removes loopholes federal agencies have been using to bypass an earlier version of the law.

“It’s a bill that strengthens existing law,” Herrera Beutler said in her floor speech. “It simply says, if a federal rule is killing jobs, a federal agency is required to find a rule that’s less burdensome. It’s pretty cut and dry, it’s something we should be doing already, but we actually have to pass a bill to require it.”

Herrera Beutler mentioned Somarakis Vacuum Pumps, a company that has a manufacturing center in Kalama and a repair center in Vancouver, as an example of a small business that worries about the impact of federal environmental and energy conservation rules.

“Her point in bringing up an employer like Somarakis was that small-business owners simply can’t keep up with the constant flow of new federal regulations because it would take a team of experts to do so,” said Casey Bowman, Herrera Beutler’s spokesman. “Often, small businesses aren’t aware of a new rule or regulation until they’ve unknowingly violated it.

We all know how much of a cowardly disgrace our local congresscritter has morphed into. Actually, this writer knew she'd be a total disaster as far back as 07, when Cathy McMorris parachuted her absentee behind in here to, well, run for Congress, her prior 11 year absence notwithstanding.

Part of the problem is her lack of intelligence. Part of it is her narcissism. Part of it is her lack of vision and the fact that most of the time, her keepers keep their foot firmly stepping on her neck.

But most of her problem is her cowardice.

It's a cowardice on display in every conceivable way, but primarily, her ongoing failure to summon up the courage to face her constituents.

U.S. Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler said Tuesday she's happy with the smaller settings of her invitation-only "community coffees" and isn't planning to hold another large-scale town hall.

About 60 people attended her latest gathering at Judy's Restaurant in Longview on Tuesday morning, a fraction of the attendance at earlier town halls in her Southwest Washington district.

To Herrera Beutler, a Camas Republican in her first term, it's about maintaining the quality of discussion with constituents without the influence of outside interests.

"I get to hear what real people are thinking, not people who organize from Portland or Seattle," Herrera Beutler said.

However, some constituents said Herrera Beutler should make herself more available, even if she's exposed to tough questions. Some complained that they only learned about Tuesday's event from others who received invitations, which undoubtedly reduced the number of people participating.

"Fifty to 60 people out of 30,000 in Longview-Kelso is nothing," retiree Bill Kasch of Longview said.

More, of course, if you can stomach it.

Her cowardice is now, of course, sunk in concrete:

There is absolutely no excuse for this kind of controlled access, save one: fear.

Her handlers are afraid that Ridgefield Barbie, when forced to answer questions, will engage in the same kind of idiocy she resorted to when she lied to the Commissioners during her confirmation process for the legislature:

"Every step I have taken since high school has been preparing me for this," she said at Thursday's hearing, her voice cracking slightly. "There is not a job in the world I would rather have."

So, just over two years later, her imagination having sufficiently expanded to encapsulate the reason she was sent here in the first place, the only job she would rather have obviously did not include remaining in the Washington State House of Representatives.

Apparently, Congress was a job she would rather have. Apparently, when she was blubbering through her act to get the commissioner's votes (which were already in the bag, thanks to Marc Boldt) she was lying.

Tim "The Liar" Leave-it slapped her around like a rented step-child. Instead of kicking him in his miniature testicles, she just disappeared. Great message THAT sends, eh, Babs?

And, she's afraid of us. She doesn't want to hear from us.

Unless, of course, you bring your checkbook. That, apparently, is the only "invitation" you have to show to get in:

We all know the deal. Unable to think for herself, Babs ignored her constituency and set up a carefully screened series of "coffees" with past and possible future campaign donors while the rest of us were ignored.

Open town hall meetings? Fugetaboutit. Screened meetings with "business leaders?" Check. Fundraiser with the Speaker, again, carefully screened with a checkbook to match... at $2500 a head? Check.

Are you kidding?

Her lack of guts, intelligence and vision are shameful in this day and age.

In short, her decision to hide from her constituency, NO MATTER THE EXCUSE, in no way provides any justification for her cowardice.

Chronicle Newspaper Guest Commentary: Congresswoman Defends Use of ‘Community Coffee Meetings’

Last month, I hosted my 12th Southwest Washington “community coffee meeting” in Chehalis.

There were some media inquiries and news stories looking at how and why I hold these events, and I’d like to give a detailed account here. Folks in Southwest Washington deserve to know the facts.

Providing Southwest Washington residents with the opportunity to speak face-to-face with their member of Congress is a responsibility of my job. In my first 10 months in office, I have hosted multiple traditional town hall meetings in large auditoriums throughout the district.

For these, my office shares the details with local newspapers, who publish them well in advance. Here’s what we experienced: well-organized interest groups would use the information to mobilize their members — many from Portland to Seattle — to follow me around to each event and protest. Audience numbers swelled up in size, giving only a small fraction of attendees the chance to ask questions. Those who were able to speak often had questions interrupted by booing or screaming from others. Organized groups from Seattle and Portland got their messages across. But my first responsibility is to hear from the people I represent, who live in Southwest Washington. And I have no obligation to create a stage for people outside our district to come and put on a show. Nor do I intend to let citizens in Southwest Washington be disenfranchised in their right to meet publicly with me.

These giant-sized town hall events beg the question: are residents being served by events where whoever shouts the loudest gets heard? People are sick of partisan bickering in politics, and I believe such events actually discourage many residents from participating. So I’m trying a new method.

Just like during the entirety of her worthless tenure in Olympia, "Ridgefield Barbie, The Camas Manikin" has accomplished absolutely nothing in Congress.

She has refused to hold town hall meetings, unless, of course, you paid $2500 a head for the privilege; she's voted to support Obama programs that the rest of her caucus have voted against (Gee, where have we seen THAT before?) shes TALKED about taking a pay cut like her replacement, State Representative Ann Rivers (R-LaCenter) took WITHOUT a press release... but has yet to actually take one... she spends hundreds of thousands of our dollars on staff and travel boondoggles... and she occasionally co-sponsors high profile, "Hurray for me!" bills that are, essentially, utterly worthless... just to have the local rag positively SWOON as a result.

This latest scam is no different.

Congress passes a variety of laws and then proceeds to exempt themselves from those same laws.

Just for one example, your taxpayer dollars go to support a race-based, partisan (democrat only) group in Congress that would be banned anywhere else under our civil rights laws: The congressional black caucus.

That such a group even exists, is absurd.

And now, our own empty suit follows in the footsteps of her fellow leftists (yes, Herrera co-sponsored SEIU legislation, requiring the mandatory unionization of day care workers with the day care owners paying their dues; yes she voted to help the democrats clean out the last $229 million then in the state emergency fund, for example... and that was all in her last session, in between her frequent absences from the floor of the House for her congressional fund raising... including flying to D.C. during session... where she voted for that) by picking up her hero's long-dormant bill... that somebody else is running.

Yes, Baird got a lot of mileage for running bills he refused to live by. He made a lot of mileage out of a so-called "72-hour" bill, where he demanded that all bills have 72 hours of public scrutiny before they are voted on... a rule that both Brown Shirt Baird and our own Camas Manikin have routinely ignored.

But while Barbie is at it, why doesn't SHE run a bill to end ALL Congressional Exemptions and presidential signing statements to exclude themselves from the laws they pass?

These despicable ways to circumvent our laws do exist... why isn't the rag saying something about that?

Babs' complete disappearance on the loot rail vote scam, having been given a political knuckle sandwich by a light weight like Tim "The Liar" Leave-it shows her lack of worth... if she had any nards, she would have kicked him in his miniature political testicles and left him a quivering mass on the side of the road north of Amboy.

Ain't.... happenin.

So, instead, we get press releases, where the local rag positively beats themselves with chains to just print them without critical thought one ever entering their empty heads.

Good. God. Is this empty-suited bimbette paying them for this babble?

Once again, all she can do is jump on someone else's band wagon. SHE isn't "SPONSORING" ANYTHING. PLEASE tell me that you inept clowns at the rag (Must be Brancaccio who wrote this garbage, since he's already worn out kneepads in front of this woman) know the difference between "SPONSORING" a bill, where you do the heavy lifting, the research, build the language and get leadership support, and CO-SPONSORING, which mean you sign your name to it and send out a press release where morons like this paper will then pat her on the butt and say "good job!" over and over when, as usual, she has done precisely dick.

Herrera must have incriminating video of Lou, because I can't fathom any other reason why he'd let this simple idiot twist him around her little finger.

Herrera did nothing worthy of this praise heaped on her. In fact, during the totality of her elected tenure, she has done nothing to be proud of. And the rag has been totally, yet mystifyingly, complicit in that... and this puffery on their part in carrying her water is no exception.

I sit here and look at the numbers. I ask myself... what's it mean? What's it mean to me... to America?

I'm one of millions. No one made us raise our hands and take the oath. Even draftees could refuse, do a few months in jail, and then return to something approaching a normal life... but they didn't.

I'm disgusted by political wannabes who attempt to use the military to their own ends. A most egregious example is that of US Senator Richard Blumenthal, (D-CT) who seemed to have forgotten that, in fact, he hadn't ever set foot in Vietnam... and who was then elected to his office ANYWAY.

On one hand, we are supposedly respecting our veterans. On the other, we see the Stock Exchange open for business, and all sorts of Veteran's Day sales going on, even as this is being written. So, obviously, the dollar is more important then observing the service and sacrifice of the millions who've served.

Back in the 50's, Robert Heinlein wrote a book called "Starship Troopers." The book, which was much more one man's political science tome then a science-fiction work, advanced the radical idea that only veterans or those who've engaged in the sacrifice of other "Federal service" should be allowed full citizenship, which included the right to run for office and vote in elections.

Interspersed throughout the book are other flashbacks to Rico's high school History and Moral Philosophy course, which describe how in the Terran Federation of Rico's day, the rights of a full Citizen (to vote, and hold public office) must be earned through some form of volunteer Federal service. Those residents who have not exercised their right to perform this Federal Service retain the other rights generally associated with a modern democracy (free speech, assembly, etc.), but they cannot vote or hold public office. This structure arose ad hoc after the collapse of the 20th century Western democracies, brought on by both social failures at home (and by extension, the poor handling of juvenile delinquency) and military defeat by the Chinese Hegemony overseas.^[13]

Starship Troopers is a political essay as well as a novel. Large portions of the book take place in classrooms, with Rico and other characters engaged in debates with their History and Moral Philosophy teachers, who are often thought to be speaking in Heinlein's voice.[citation needed] The overall theme of the book is that social responsibility requires being prepared to make individual sacrifice. Heinlein's Terran Federation is a limited democracy with aspects of a meritocracy based on willingness to sacrifice in the common interest. Suffrage belongs only to those willing to serve their society by at least two years of volunteer Federal Service – "the franchise is today limited to discharged veterans", (ch. XII), instead of anyone "...who is 18 years old and has a body temperature near 37 °C"[16] The Federation is required to find a place for anyone who desires to serve, regardless of his skill or aptitude (this also includes service ranging from teaching to dangerous non-military work such as serving as experimental medical test subjects).

There is an explicitly-made contrast to the democracies of the 20th century, which according to the novel, collapsed because "people had been led to believe that they could simply vote for whatever they wanted... and get it, without toil, without sweat, without tears."[17] Indeed, Colonel Dubois criticizes as unrealistic the famous U.S. Declaration of Independence line concerning "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness". No one can stop anyone from pursuing happiness, but life and liberty are said to exist only if they are deliberately sought and paid for.

Starship Troopers is also widely-regarded as a vehicle for Heinlein's anti-communist views. Characters attack Karl Marx (a "pompous fraud"), the labor theory of value ("All the work one cares to add will not turn a mud pie into an apple tart..."),[18] and Plato's The Republic ("ant-like communism" and "weird in the extreme").[19]

We look around at our leaders... from the top down.

Has the president, our senators, our congresswoman, our governor, the vast majority of the legislature, the mayor of Vancouver, most of the city council or even a majority of the county commission ever set foot in uniform?

Can you imagine a couple of self-centered, arrogant liars like Tim "The Liar" Leave-it or Steve "The Liar" Stuart ever putting the country's interests ahead of their own by actually serving it in uniform? Can you imagine either of them putting their asses on the line for us?

How about Ridgefield Barbie? Jamie Herrera changing a track on a Recon vehicle. Jaime Herrera out in the field without a shower for 3 weeks,... eating MRE's and rolling around in the dirt.... Jaimie Herrera breaking a nail while opening up a grenade canister.

Fat chance. But that doesn't stop her from trying to take credit from the disasters that have befallen us for political gain.

The list goes on and on.

As a nation, we long for those to run for office who truly put the country ahead of themselves.

Yes, I served. And there are many days I miss it. There's a level of honesty and immediacy in serving in the military that the political realm simply doesn't have... or even offer.

A great deal of my outspoken, call a spade a spade nature on this blog is based on my service in the military, where prevarication and whining and excuses have no place.

Unfortunately, we've become a nation of prevarication; a nation of excuses and excusers and a nation of whiners.

And look what that has brought us. Look where we are going.

We are cursed with a weak-kneed cowardess representing us in congress, one Jaime Herrera.

She has, on occasion, shown herself to be fully capable of lying. She lied about the impacts of her 2010 co-sponsored SEIU bill that would have required day care workers to be unionized and daycare owners to pay their dues; she lied about helping the democrats to empty out the state's emergency fund, and she lied about being off the floor of the legislature so she could campaign and attend fundraisers, like in Washington, D.C. as a part of her congressional campaign in the midst midst of legislative session last year.

So when she whines and snivels about the many efforts to hold our empty-suited cardboard cut out of a congressperson accountable... well, lies are aplenty.

It takes a complete, tin-eared moron not to realize that failing to hold open town hall meetings are a part of the job... but failing to hold such meetings while simultaneously soliciting bribes in the form of $2500 a pop campaign donations with The Speaker?

That takes a level of idiocy that really is hard to describe.

So, what does she do?

Instead of manning up, admitting she made a mistake in judgement and promising that it wouldn't happen again, the Potomac Princess has one of her staff write a letter to the editor,. no doubt at the behest of her keeper, the interfering Cathy McMorris Rogers... who lives in and represents the other side of the state.

Because McMorris, more often then not, HAS to be shaking her head at the rampant stupidity of the Frankensteinian Monster she created out of whole cloth.

What's the letter say? What does it matter? It's just more Bart Simpson BS.

What the Camas Manikin doesn't get is there is precisely zero excuse for failing to face her constituents... or even people who live outside the district, since her empty-headed votes also impact them.

But she lacks the guts... the commitment... the nerve to do that.

No, she wants her lackeys to carefully screen the great unwashed so she doesn't get her skirts stained with the "filth of the masses."

Once again, our simple idiot has proven that she'd be everything I knew she'd be... and less.

Hopefully, one day she'll grow up and, frankly, grow a pair. Because right now, she comes across as the spoiled rotten punk she's always been.

Regular readers now know of my outrage at the cardboard cutout of a congresswoman's cowardly efforts to hide her meeting with constituents in Centralia, an effort that, via Politico, caught the eye of Keith Olbermann, uber-fringe leftist hate monger.

Citing that Politico story, Olbermann blasted Ridgefield Barbie thusly:

Our runner-up? Tea party freshman Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler of the state of Washington. She conducted a town hall in Centralia, Washington on Monday, and tried to keep it a secret from her constituents.

Her communications director admits he called the local newspaper last week to ask them to not publish a notice about the Congresswoman’s town hall in her own district. He said Herrera Butler’s event was invitation only. This was so true that one couple called the congresswoman’s office and was told no town hall was scheduled.

In May, Herrera Beutler held a true town hall and got fricasseed by the voters angry over the Republican budget that would have crippled Medicare. Communications Director Casey Bowman said that the decision to keep a Congresswoman’s public appearance private was to prevent people from coming in and saying “whatever’s on their minds.” He added, “When word gets in the paper, you get a certain set of people.”

Yes! They’re called citizens! It’s one thing to be tone-deaf during your one term, Congresswoman. It’s another to be intentionally deaf to the voters by sticking your fingers in your ears.

This is proof that both the right.... and even the far-fringe, out of this solar system left can occasionally agree. When their congresswoman is acting like a cowardly moron, it's not hard to have a meeting of the minds.

The article in the local democratian, which includes quotes from hypocritical former cowardman Brian Baird (who talks like he hadn't become a coward and didn't compare those opposed to Obamacare as Brown Shirts and so forth) lays it all out.

It shows an absolutely gutless performance and dictatorial effort to keep people wise enough to disagree with Ridgefield Barbie out of her face.

Her communications director/campaign manager is a complete fool who should be fired as soon as possible. His portrayal of his boss as a cowardly moron is not the thing that POSITIVE legends are made of.

In any event, this is yet another chapter in the increasingly thick book of Ridgefield Barbie, who continues to show every day in every way that she's unfit for any elective office, let alone one like Congress.

Instead of seeking out the voice of the people she does everything she can to mute that voice... and that idiot running her communications seems proud of that:

On Friday The Chronicle in Centralia received a phone call from Herrera Beutler staffer and Communications Director Casey Bowman informing the newspaper of the meeting. Bowman asked that a meeting announcement not be placed in the paper. However, he did invite the paper to cover the event.

The Chronicle refused his request and published an announcement in Saturday’s paper.

The reason for not publishing an advance notice of the meeting was the fear that people from outside the immediate area could come and “just yell” at the congresswoman “whatever’s on their minds,” Bowman said Friday.

“When word gets in the paper, you get a certain set of people,” Bowman said.

Bowman, who also handled her anointment to the congressional seat ordained by her former boss, Cathy McMorris Rogers, apparently has confused constituents with "a certain set of people."

Do you think if I, for example, were a congressman that I wouldn't be holding regular town halls, open to all, in large venues to get the opinions (which I might not agree with but would at least hear) of those I work for?

Wouldn't you?

And then to try and coerce the newspaper into covering the event while keeping it silent?

Clearly, not every newspaper is a leftist rag like the democratian, which has repeatedly done that very thing.

Also of note was Bowman's questionable account of how people were, in fact, notified of this "coffee:" 5600 people were notified by phone of the meeting.

And 24 showed up.

No.... not 2400.... but 24.

And how pathetic was that?

Both Herrera AND Bowman should be fired immediately.

It is to our great misfortune that our representative in Congress is a coward.

And believe me, I write that with ALL due respect... which is none.

Notice how Barbie has disappeared on the loot rail issue?

She wrote a meaningless letter that detailed no course of action to try and show the voters of Clark County that she REALLY REALLY cares about making sure some of us get a vote on loot rail (Not all of us, you understand, because, well, we all already know the outcome of such a vote... and she can't actually have that vote LOSE.... can she?) and, as a result, that little worm who is the mayor of Vancouver, the weasel more popularly known as Tim "The Liar" Leavitt proceeded to politically knock her into next week.

She should have both responded... and acted... in kind, to teach that punk some manners.

But, she didn't. And I, of course, knew our little congressional coward would keep her undies clean by staying out of the mud.

Leavitt busted her directly in her political mouth... and the Camas Manikin.... did nothing.

We all already know all this, but it provides a nice backdrop for this tidbit, Barbies furtherance of the "Women as Victim" nonsense that she's so wrapped around.

I, personally, never factor gender into my decision to politically support or oppose someone.

I despise Ridgefield Barbie because she is dishonest, self-serving, spoiled rotten, and gutless. Her plumbing has nothing to do with any of those factors... she is what she is, and I loath her for it, as all voters should.

Don’t Give Cover to the Women-as-Victim Crowd

The Left can be expected to trot out tired tropes about the how U.S. society works, whether it’s that the rich don’t pay their fair share in taxes or that our public schools are crumbling from a lack of funds. That’s what they do. It’s frustrating, however, when those conservatives fall for these platitudes, giving them an aura of mainstream truth and paving the way for government action based on false premises.

Reps. Cynthia Lummis (R., Wyo.) and Jaime Herrera Beutler (R., Wa.) seem to have fallen into that trap as they co-host a luncheon tomorrow with the Women’s Policy, Inc. to discuss the topic, “The Gender Wage Gap: What Is the Impact on Women and their Families?” They’ll be welcoming a panel that includes the director of the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs at the Department of Labor, the former chair of the EEOC, the president of the Michigan League of Human Service, and a director from the liberal American Association of University Women.

When asked about their participation, Rep. Herrera Beutler’s office responded that “the Congresswoman does not definitively know why a wage gap exists between men and women. Any combination of causes could be the reason for the gap, and that is why she is co-sponsoring a series of discussions on the topic. She is not supporting legislation to increase government activism on this issue, and hopes to facilitate full and open conversations between people of differing viewpoints.”

Yet this particular panel is hardly a cast likely to challenge the presumption that the “wage gap” is caused by discrimination. And that’s a premise that needs to be challenged. While Rep. Herrera Beutler is right that uncertainty remains about the exact causes of the wage gap, we do know that the Left’s chant that “women earn 75 cents for every man’s dollar” is grossly misleading.

Yes, the median wage of a full-time working woman is about three-quarters of that of a full-time working man. But that statistic doesn’t account for variables such as occupation, hours worked, years of experience, specialty, or education, to name a few factors that we know influence earnings. And we also know that when such factors are taken into account, the wage gap shrinks, and in some cases, even disappears.

An honest discussion of the causes of the wage gap would be welcome. Some have suggested that women are more hesitant than men to negotiate starting salaries and raises, which could be a lasting drag on women’s earnings. That’s good information for women to have. It’s something women can keep in mind when considering our next career change. We can teach our daughters to be more proactive in discussing money.

Yet this panel’s title suggests that it won’t focus on what factors drive the wage gap, but on the outcome (most likely the grievous harm) of this well-established, sexist phenomenon. Those outcomes are then used by big government advocates to call for government intervention that’s wasteful at best, and economically counter-productive at worst.

Our Department of Education pushes aside evidence that boys (particularly boys from minority and lower-income communities) are failing academically while doubling down on girl-power programs designed to boost female achievement in math, science, and engineering, disciplines that skew male.

Legislation has been advanced to give the Department of Labor more power to micromanage how businesses compensate employees. For now, they claim to just want to assess how employers make decisions and offer government “guidelines” for what constitutes fair pay. Yet how easy it will be for those guidelines to transform into law.

Facilitating another feminist pow-wow to lament the patriarchy’s oppression of the weaker sex also sends the wrong message to young women. Walking around with a chip on your shoulder and expectations that the world will mistreat you is hardly the most promising path to success.

The Republican representatives sanctioning this discussion may sincerely oppose the big-government solutions that are advanced in the name of eradicating the wage gap, and simply want a robust discussion about what determines men and women’s earnings. They are unlikely to accomplish that tomorrow, and instead are helping lend legitimacy to those who see the world as overwhelmingly sexist and government as women’s only protection from it.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — California Gov. Jerry Brown, saying "no" to the organized labor groups that helped elect him, vetoed a bill on Tuesday to allow some child-care workers to unionize.

The Democratic governor said that while the bill's goal was laudable, its price tag was too high.
"Maintaining the quality and affordability of child care is a very important goal. So too is making sure that working conditions are decent and fair for those who take care of our children," Brown wrote in his veto message.

"Today California, like the nation itself, is facing huge budget challenges. Given that reality, I am reluctant to embark on a program of this magnitude and potential cost."

About half of California's estimated 80,000 child-care providers would have been affected by the legislation, which applied only to those workers within state programs subsidizing a family's child-care costs.

The ability to organize child-care workers has been a long-time goal of the state's major public employee unions -- the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees and the Service Employees International Union, which already represents many of the state's in-home caregivers.

Similar measures were vetoed three times previously by former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, a Republican.

Brown signed another budget-related measure on Tuesday allowing nonprofits to operate state parks, a strategy aimed at preventing the slated closure of some 70 parks in 2012 because of budget cuts.

Anna Miller is the power in the Clark County GOP because she's proof of the adage that the world truly is run by those who show up.

It doesn't matter that she's not particularly competent in the realm of politics: her efforts as party chair resulting in, among other things, Keith Olbermann naming the Clark County GOP his "second worst person in the world"

What matters is that she's THERE.

Early on in Herrera's congressional campaign, Miller confronted me at Brent Boger's campaign announcement, claiming that my post pointing out the absurdity of Jaime's ability to munch her way through almost $500 in taxpayer money for food on a 3 day boondoggle trip as Cathy McMorris Roger's staffer was all wrong (never mind that I produced the actual document proving my assertions in the post) and I told her what I tell everyone that challenges what I write: provide the proof, and I'll post that I was wrong and show the proof to that effect.

I'm still waiting.

So far, Ridgefield Barbie has been everything I thought she'd be in Congress, and less.

Failing to hold town hall meetings... setting up carefully screened "coffees" with potential (and, no doubt, past) donors... brining in John Boehner and charging $2500 a head while refusing to get in front of the "little people?"

Voting to raise the debt ceiling a paltry $900 billion.

Back in the day, we were horrified to learn of the mass-suicide of hundreds in Guyana at the behest of Rev. Jim Jones, forever enshrining the phrase "kool aid drinker" as a description of those who'll follow anyone if they believe they're going to get something out of it.

Like Ana Miller. And today's case in point is this completely delusional effort from Miller ass a part of the GOP's earnest effort to rehab the image of the increasingly tarnished empty suit representing us in Congress:

It’s about time we had a U.S. representative who was in touch with the people of Clark County. We’ve suffered some of the worst unemployment in the country, and we’re hurting. Rather than go for a pay raise, Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Camas, proposed a bill to cut her own pay and pay for all U.S. representatives by 10 percent. I want to know the person I sent to Congress to solve our problems understands our problems — and Herrera Beutler has shown me she does. She ran for this office on the promise to cut spending, and I commend her for keeping her word and cutting where it counts.

The bill (what's the bill number again?) she tossed out there was typical of the cheap publicity stunts she's known for... that gets the more ignorant to really think she's doing something... when, of course, she isn't.

Is something keeping her from setting the example? You know, VOLUNTARILY send 10% of her pay back in?

I read the Sept. 8 story, “Talk to Herrera Beutler, Boehner — for a price,” that reported U.S. Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Camas, was having a campaign fundraiser at the home of Dick Hannah. The story stated that $10,000 could be donated by each couple. Real-ly? Is this what our Founding Fathers had in mind? I don’t think so.
Congress has a 13 percent approval rating as of now. Maybe because only 13 percent or less benefit from the acts of Congress. This is ruining our political system. It needs to stop — now.

Think about it. Re-election requires roughly $2 million each cycle for a Member of Congress. They face re-election every 104 weeks. If you do the math, those in Congress must kowtow to the special interests at the rate of around $20,000 each week.

Is it any wonder our country is so screwed up?

I condemned our congresswoman because of this same issue. I condemn her carefully screened, cherry-picked "coffees" while she fails to meet with the unwashed masses... no elected official or staffer of principle or integrity would put up with that. But that all begs the larger question.

The reason I am condemning her on THIS ISSUE is because she made the decision to effectively meet only with people who, when she runs again, could write her large checks. In this instance, clearly her focus is not on her constituents... but again, on herself... much like the immature girl image she all-too-frequently projects.

Had she done these coffees in ADDITION to 3 or 4 town hall meetings around the district... something a barn-headed ape should have figured out... then I'd have no complaint... about that aspect of her self-centeredness, anyway.

That brings us to the issue of excising this disease of what I can call "moneyitus."

One popularly held, but I believe nonsensical and unworkable solution, is term limits.

Term limits have 3 primary faults in the thought process that supports them:

1. I should have the right to vote for any candidate I desire... even one that has served X number of terms in the past.

2. Term limits by themselves will do nothing to address the impacts of, or requirements for, the special interest money that controls our government today.

3. There is something to be said for institutional memory, both good... and bad... if you have Members with integrity and honesty, that Memory can be used to both avoid past mistakes and to form a better future plan.

Others are of the government-financed campaign school. Here locally, the train wreck that is Portland politics so far have not been positively impacted in any noticeable way... and who, with a straight face, can advocate funding campaigns when we can't fund fire houses?

I don't have the answer to this question... a question that seems almost Churchillian in it's breadth and depth:

Many forms of Government have been tried and will be tried in this world of sin and woe. No one pretends that democracy is perfect or all-wise. Indeed, it has been said that democracy is the worst form of government except all those other forms that have been tried from time to time.

I am quick to condemn Herrera, because there is much to condemn her for. But I know enough about politics to know that the political equivalent of Jaime or any other serious candidate standing on a street corner with a bucket, spare-changing campaign donations is equally impossible.

In this instance, the political perception is the reality. And here, the reality is that once again, Herrera engaged in an own-goal by failing to add town hall meetings to the mix. Herrera might reconsider her staff... because only one of two things could have caused this screw-up:

Those she hired lacked the political understanding of a 5th grader and gave her (or someones idea she bought into) the "Absolutely right, J.B.!" treatment, or

Someone on the staff warned her (Ryan Hart, who's political support was bought and paid for with the promise of his $65,000 per year job, perhaps?) that this was a boneheaded play and she ignored them.

Either way, she's coming across like a cartoon character smacking herself in the head with a mallet.

Any regular reader of this blog is well aware of the low esteem I have for our erstwhile Camas Manikin.

Her cowardice is only exceeded by her cluelessness. Locally, she has developed the tinnest ear in all of politics... in fact, her tin ears are, I believe, second only to those of the Moron-in-Chief.

But today brought out an especially slimy effort by Babs, second only to her bizarre characterization of her 11 year absence as a result of her multiple internships, her tenure as a student at the UW, and her job as one of Cathy McMorris Roger's gofers from this area before she scammed an appointment to the state House through my brother-in-law... to our ever-lasting shame... as being the "same thing as serving in the military."

Having worn my Nation's uniform, one way or the other, for over 14 years, I can tell you... as I directly told her.... that it ain't.

So, imagine my surprise when I received this plate of tripe from the local GOP:

We all remember ten years ago on September 11; where we were, and what we were doing when we learned of the terrorist attacks on the Twin Towers and Pentagon.

We all felt fear and confusion at the images of horror we saw on the news. But this is America. What makes this country great is the courage and bravery that emerges during our darkest times.

A few months after 9/11, I was working with a small group of volunteers in a Red Cross shelter next to Ground Zero in New York. We were filling a simple role -- serving eggs and providing blankets to those conducting the cleanup. It was a round the clock task and when the police, firefighters and construction workers needed to come in from the freezing weather, some would come in and attempt to rest. The scene was grave. Rubble that had been a pile was slowly turning into a pit as more was removed and cleaned up each day. Remains of victims were still being unearthed. But playing this small part in the healing process galvanized my desire to work in service to our communities. Like many Americans, my love and respect for our country and her citizens soared.

We take this ten year anniversary of the September 11 attacks to offer our heartfelt gratitude to our first responders, and the men and women of our military, who stepped forward to respond to this tragedy. And we remember those who have died for our country. May we also never forget the demonstrations of bravery or the spirit of service that resulted from 9/11.

Readers of my blogs know I don't think highly of the coward we have sitting in a seat where courage and vision are not only needed, but an absolute necessity given the tenor of our times.

Locally, few outside the mayor of Vancouver and two of our county commissioners have "tinner" ears than Ridgefield Barbie. Lacking the guts to face her constituents, the only ones she'll talk to are hose on her donor list or otherwise screen by her mind-field-clearing staff to make sure her small amount of intellectual capacity isn't terribly overtaxed.

Literally.

But the idea that a big check gets you face time with the cardboard cutout of a congresswoman while she ignores the unwashed (and unpaying) masses who were, well, foolish enough to vote for this political waste of skin shows an amount of tin in her aural canals that would put a family-size can of Campbell's tomato soup to shame in content.

Stupid is as stupid does. And the coward we have "representing" us in the House of Representatives proves that every day, in every way.

It's just a damned shame that we don't have someone in their more like Allen West and less like Elmer Fudd.

Members of Congress often remind constituents that the August recess is no vacation but, in fact, is packed with events in which they listen to the people who elected them. This summer, though, Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler is listening only to the people she chooses. The Republican rookie representative from Camas has scheduled no town hall meetings during the recess, and every flimsy explanation for this dereliction of duty only worsens constituents’ frustration.

Herrera Beutler has given a few speeches this month, conducted highly controlled “telephone town halls” and held tightly scripted, invitation-only listening sessions with a few hand-picked groups who were on their best behavior. But she has abandoned the town hall meeting, which she had entered several times earlier with fairly good results. But by dodging the public now, Herrera Beutler opens herself to accusations that she is too fearful, too impassive or too lazy to appear on a public stage before the real people.

Ryan Hart, a Herrera Beutler spokesman, said in a Columbian story that she “has been trying something different this month, which is to hold community meetings at coffee shops around the district.” First, these aren’t community meetings; they’re interruptions of people’s private coffee time. Some of those people might not even want to talk to a politician. Second, chances are great that, at these impromptu sessions, Herrera Beutler will not encounter any of the people who most want to speak with her. Some of them are her critics. She should deal with it; it comes with the job.

Herrera Beutler’s retreat from the public spotlight is especially troubling because she used that spotlight to get elected. And she has held several town hall meetings since then, including Feb. 3 in Battle Ground and May 17 at Skyview High School in Vancouver. But a lot has happened since then.

Why abdicate the politically profitable public perch when people want to ask about the contentious debate over extending the debt ceiling? Why vacate the limelight when people want answers about simmering issues such as health care, job creation, Social Security, Libya, Afghanistan, presidential candidates and President Obama’s performance?

If it’s because of personal security concerns, then why did the congresswoman have several town hall meetings earlier? Is her new reclusion due to worries that rowdy critics will use a town hall meeting to immortalize their performances in YouTube videos? Whatever the reason, Herrera Beutler should know that real leaders prove their worth by tackling adversities and exerting control, not by retreating.

Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler has been back in her Southwest Washington district for most of the month of August, but the freshman Republican has scheduled no town hall meetings.

And some of her constituents are asking why.

“I’d love to talk to her about the debt limit,” said Jan Watson, a high school teacher in Rochester. “I’d like to have her listen to people. In a town hall, when somebody asks a question and the person responds, you can get a real good fact check by the groans. That gives a real indication that your comment isn’t quite right or isn’t reflecting the community.”

Watson said she encourages her students to attend politicians’ town hall meetings so they can experience democracy up close.

“The real underlying reason this congressional district has not seen public meetings is that the congresswoman is aware enough of the real world to understand that Congress, in general, is not held in high esteem,” said Tom Shofner of Kalama in an email. “If we add to that her allegiance to the far right, … she just doesn’t feel at home any more in this area, I think.”

Michele Molstead, a Vancouver writer, visited Herrera Beutler’s district office several times during the August break trying to find out whether she planned to hold a town hall, and if so, when and where.

“They kept saying, ‘Nothing has been scheduled yet, we haven’t firmed up any town halls yet,’ ” she said. “They told me the best place to get information about her events during recess was The Columbian.”

Molstead said she had hoped to ask Herrera Beutler what steps she is willing to take to raise revenue, encourage job creation and fund new infrastructure.

“I think it is possible to have civil discourse and to have a detailed, sound-bite-free conversation with my representative,” she said. “I think her constituents deserve that.”

Ryan Hart, manager of Herrera Beutler’s district office in Vancouver, said the congresswoman “has been trying something different this month, which is to hold community meetings at coffee shops around the district.”

Ryan, former Clark County GOP chair she bought early on in the primary with the illegal promise of a job, makes a lousy spokesman for such cowardice.

There can be only so many reasons why she's emulating the end game for our former cowardman, Brian Baird, who had a stellar record of accessibility up until his self-immolation at the end.

Apparently, the Camas Manikin not only couldn't find any reason to criticize Baird, she feels compelled to emulate his cowardice by refusing to confront her constituents unless they've been through the careful selection process her handlers require.

It's shameful that the GOP elected such a cowardly slimeball to represent us in Congress. As a Republican, I've concluded that even democrat Denny Heck would have been better. Electing a gutless pretty-girl who can't face a crowd? We truly do have the government we deserve.

At least Heck wouldn't have been terrified to meet his constituents, unlike this waste of skin.

Open up the democratian web page and there's yet another press release job by Harshman... and yet another meeting between the Camas Manikin and her hand-picked loyal subjects... all carefully orchestrated for maximum press and minimum policy impact.

I never had much use for our local Cowardman, Brian Baird. Unfortunately for us, Babs thought he was fine as a congresscritter, stating during the campaign that we had never heard her criticize him.

“Not once have you heard me criticize Brian Baird’s performance in Southwest Washington.”

Well, since there's damned little difference between them, that's not surprising, particularly.

The reason I mention all that is, well, like him or hate him, for many years he was readily accessible, holding literally dozens of town hall meeting per year for a decade.

Babs, on the other hand, holds carefully orchestrated, typically tightly scripted meetings with hand selected people who will behave.

Courage and integrity have never been particular strong points on her part; her ongoing failure to meet with the people without running them all through TSA-style nonsense serve to re-enforce how frightened she is to speak unscripted, and how, instead of being quick on her feet, she moves intellectually with the speed of set concrete.

A handful of local providers gave Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler their thoughts on the rising costs of health care, Medicare and health care incentives during a roundtable discussion Monday afternoon.

Herrera Beutler held the hourlong, invite-only listening session at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. The discussion included PeaceHealth Southwest President Joe Kortum; Dr. Bob Djergaian, physician director for rehabilitation services; Dr. Brad Jensen, laboratory medical director; Dr. William McBride, a pulmonary and critical care provider for Southwest Medical Group; and Dr. Robin Virgin, a primary care provider for Southwest Medical Group.

The congresswoman invited the physicians to offer ideas for changes that could be made at the federal level.

“Making sure providers can continue to provide quality health care is important to me,” Herrera Beutler said.

Looming cuts to Medicare reimbursement rates are concerning for physicians, Djergaian said. Current rates don’t cover costs. Reducing rates by another 25 to 30 percent would make it even harder to provide care for Medicare patients, he said.

Herrera Beutler agreed and said the federal government shouldn’t reduce rates when current rates don’t cover costs. Reducing reimbursement rates is not a way to solve the problem with Medicare funding, she said.

“I would support a fix,” she said. “What I’d really like to see is a long-term fix.”

When reimbursement rates don’t cover the cost of providing the care, hospitals have to make up the difference elsewhere, Kortum said.

For example, PeaceHealth Southwest will bill about $1.3 billion for services this year. The medical center will only collect about $650 million. As a result, the medical center has to “jack up” its charges to make up the difference, Kortum said.

Our economy is a mess. Barbie has done her part by taking a vote that resulted in our downgrade by jacking up our debt ceiling... again... ladling us under another couple trillion dollars in debt.

We all make sacrifices. While some local state legislators have taken pay cuts and reduced their travel budgets and printing budgets, I haven't heard that about Babs. That said, I have rarely seen our local fishwrapper spend so much time and effort on publicly rehabbing anyone's image as they are here.

Herrera's moronic vote on the debt ceiling bill, a bill that guaranteed our Nation's historic downgrade,m caused her horrific political damage.

The Camas Manikin's tenure in Congress has been the same lackluster effort she had in Olympia, where she accomplished precisely dick.

Just for purposes of comparison, her replacement, Ann Rivers, passed more bills to the Governor's signature in her FIRST session (3) then Ridgefield Barbie did in 3 YEARS (1).

And Herrera's empty suit isn't any fuller.

One wonders when she's going to get some testicles and actually spend some time meeting unscreened, unfiltered, folks from this district.... instead of engaging in obviously contrived and carefully controlled photo ops that accomplish nothing.

Which, come to think of it, sums up Herrera's tenure in office.

One also has to wonder about the democratian's love affair with Herrera. I guess assurances of support to the rag for their agenda... stiffing us with the CRC, for example, gets you free ink by the barrel-full.

In perhaps THE most UNBELIEVABLE trough of tripe I have EVER read from the democratian, they cranked out a puff piece for Ridgefield Barbie that would make a statue of a pig blush.

Essentially trying to shill this empty suited waste of political skin as the second coming of Linda Smith, the democratian engages in outright lies and exaggerations to front for this clueless moron who bears some responsibility for throwing her district and this country under the bus.

Clearly, the moron who wrote this article HAD to be writing about someone else.

For the first time since Republican Linda Smith won the seat in 1994, the 3rd is represented by a bedrock conservative.

I literally threw up when I read this. Projectile stuff. And, of course, even if it were true, it would be the first time since Smith left the seat in 98 in her abortive run for the US Senate, but what's another fact to our birdcage liner?

To call the Camas Manikin a "Bedrock conservative" is to call Lou Brancaccio honest, or John Laird moderate.

Those are 3 lies in the same sentence. Clearly, they wanted her to take this moronic vote to support the democrats; and this despicable fantasy article is the payoff. Because she's carrying the rag's water like Gunga Din, they're transcending their usual fringe-left bias and giving her publicity she couldn't buy.

Cathy McMorris owns Herrera like the 13th Amendment was never passed. McMorris, who interfered at every level both during the appointment process for Richard Curtis's replacement when she cut a deal with Marc Boldt to get Herrera the appointment; even though Herrera hadn't even lived in the 18th District for the 11 years before the process took place and really knew nothing except how to lie to the commissioners to GET the appointment, is the entire reason Herrera, to our misfortune, represents us (if you can call it that) in Congress to begin with.

As more and more of those who were taken in by the empty suit as a result of her despicable campaign are coming to know the truth that I've known all along; fewer and fewer have been, well, "enchanted" by her idiocy in Congress.

The emails I get are unbelievably angry in their sense of betrayal and anger towards Barbie. They simply cannot believe that she was capable of selling us out like she has.

She voted for whatever McMorris ordered her to vote for. Unfortunately, she is the junior representative of the 5th District of Washington State, the only congressional district in the country with TWO members of congress representing IT, leaving no one to represent US in the 3rd.

According to Govtrack, a nonpartisan congressional rating service, Herrera Beutler has yet to distinguish herself among the 87 conservative Republicans who stormed the House in January. Based on her bill sponsorship, Govtrack rates her a “centrist Republican follower.” A graph of that record puts her squarely in the center ideologically and at the bottom in terms of leadership, not unusual for a first-term member.

Yeah. A back-bencher, "centrist Republican follower" who somehow transmogrified herself for this article into a faux "bedrock conservative."

"Yet to distinguish herself" will be on her political tombstone when she's bounced out of office.

"I believe I’m hitting the target with a majority of folks,” Herrera Beutler said. “There will always be people who aren’t happy with me, both on the right and on the left. My goal is to hit the sweet spot for the majority. I do believe people in this district want us to get our fiscal house in order.”

*I* believe, and her votes have proven, that she's a delusional lightweight. Just for one example, her vote on the debt ceiling will reverberate around the history of this country for decades as we all suffer as a result.

*I* believe she doesn't have a clue.

Of course she got Ryan Hart to run her District office: that was his pay off for violating GOP rules and endorsing this embarrassment to the democratic process in the primary... and then lying as to why he did it. He's prostituted himself for a fat paycheck and screwed the rest of us in the process.

And her own version of Obama's teleprompter fetish is Bowman, because SHE sounds like a blithering idiot when she talks, so Bowman has to do it for her, although "carefully crafted" really doesn't fir the boilerplate he churns out over her name... and her talking point responses in person shows she a vacuous cheerleader type... who, if she HAD an original thought in her head has been cursed with the fact that it's long since died of loneliness.

Her lack of backbone is on display for everyone to see as a complete lightweight like Tim "The Liar" Leavitt has knocked her political teeth out on her fake attempt to get us to believe she gives a damn about a vote on this horrific waste of billions and decade's long fiscal rape of 65,000 commuters in tolls while she sits by and doe nothing.

Her vote, which is in large part responsible for screwing up our bond rating, will reverberate around her election campaign, unless she does the honorable thing and resigns, so that an adult can actually get the job.

She was utterly clueless when McMorris scammed her the appointment in the 18th; she's been utterly clueless as a member of congress representing the 5th District instead of the 3rd, and it's utterly mystifying why the local rag is shilling her like she's paying them... with garbage like this article which is full of contradictions, exaggerations, misinformation and selective memory.

Having joined with the rest of the House GOP in violating their self-imposed for the campaign 72 hour publication prior to vote-rule, I guarantee you that Herrera's vote WAS easy for her... and now, as she realizes the horrific mistake she made in betraying those who were ignorant enough to vote for this fake conservative, she's engaging in full-bore damage control as her idiocy came crashing down here ears as a result of her strong effort to cripple our debt rating.

I repeat: this was an easy vote for her, and it cost her zero sleep.

Having watched thousands of votes in Olympia, I can tell you that the voting categories only included "yes," or "no" or "present" or "absent."

There was no "tough yes" or "tough no" category. In short, the voting machine doesn't give a damn what your motive may be in screwing both your constituency and that of the entire country on this issue.

In short, the machine counts a "reluctant yes" the same way it counts any other.

And looking at your paper-thin tenure in elective office, I'm reminded that you had no problem co-sponsoring and voting for SEIU legislation that would have both required mandatory unionization of daycare workers while forcing the business owners they work for to pay their dues for them.

Nor did you have any problem voting to help the democrats vacuum out the last $229 million in this state's emergency funds.

So now, you got caught with your pants down... and you're back peddling as fast as you can. It's as moronic as your cowardice on the loot rail/CRC bridge vote and your running away from a fist-fight from a political wuss like Tim "The Liar" Leavitt.over the vote issue, where he knocked you senseless.

And now, to lie, on top of this?

We should have kept Baird. Even thought he, too was a coward, he was a GENUINE coward, and everyone know it.

In fact, Boehner already knew her position, she said, because she made it clear to him back in January, at the first meeting of the new GOP caucus, held in Baltimore. When no one else rose to speak about the need to get spending under control, she said, she stood up and said that was the whole reason she had run for Congress. “I choked up just a little bit,” she said.

Which explains perfectly why you sold us out on this vote enabling you clowns to spend, at a minimum, $2 trillion more THIS YEAR? If you REALLY believe this bill did ANYTHING to "get spending under control," you need to get into rehab. Quickly.

NOW is the time to address the issue. People like Barbie lack the courage to confront the issues NOW, either not knowing or caring that as time goes on, this problem will get worse... and worse. Ultimately, the trouble surrounding our impending bankruptcy, which is still confronting this Nation, will make this controversy look like a fender-bender.

This scam has no cuts. This scam changes nothing. This scam makes no changes while forking over ANOTHER $2.4 trillion for Obama to waste, making the GOP WILLING participants in our fiscal rape... just as guilty as the fringe leftists that have put us in this position in the first place.

And Babs doesn't have the guts to fight for what's right.

This whole thing is a crock, and it's a crock that's going to be jammed down our throats not unlike that horrific health care scam the leftists rammed in and broke off. We fork over $900 BILLION in increased debt ceiling... and next year, we get a $7 whole billion reduction in our budget INCREASE.

Meanwhile, the can is kicked down the road again, when we get to do the same thing, with the same verbiage, all over again, solving... and changing... nothing.

We are spending ourselves into Weimar Republic bankruptcy.

We're lied to when we're told that failing to give into this scam would be a "disaster."

I always thought that when the Titanic was cruising along at full speed and slammed into that iceberg that had they faced the oncoming disaster with a little more caution... you know, slowed down, maybe, and turned to port a few degrees, that wouldn't have happened and James Cameron would have had to find some other disaster to make bank off of.

We see the iceberg ahead. And instead of changing course and slowing down, we're speeding up and turning into it. We see Greece, Portugal, Ireland and Spain. And do we take the steps to avoid becoming like that?

Hell, no.

We see the talking heads babbling about out "downgrade" if this thing isn't passed. Well, what are we going to do when it IS passed, and they DOWNGRADE US ANYWAY, because the rating firms know the entire bow of our ship of state is rotten clear through, and likely to sink any minute?

What then?

Well, Ridgefield Barbie's boilerplate press release doesn't talk about that, does it?

Will it be tough to default? Sure. But there will be a great many benefits as well, such as torpedoing the moronic CRC rip off. I'd go through with it just to accomplish THAT.

Rep. Herrera Beutler votes for Boehner debt limit plan, releases statement

U.S. Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler joined a slim majority of House members Friday in voting in favor of House Speaker John Boehner’s debt ceiling proposal. The measure needed 217 votes to pass; it passed 218-210, with 22 Republicans voting no.

Herrera Beutler released this statement after the vote:

“All through the debate over how to address the debt ceiling, I have maintained that our solution must meet three criteria. First, it must protect Social Security. Not only does this plan include no cuts to Social Security benefits, it helps us meet our debt obligations and stops the administration from making a decision to withhold Social Security checks.“

“Second, I said I could not support a plan that included any increase in tax rates on families and small businesses in my district. This plan does not include a single tax increase.”

“Third, the plan must put our country back on a financially responsible path by addressing Washington, D.C.’s overspending problem. This plan not only changes the trajectory of this country’s spending, it makes a down payment on lowering our nation’s debt.

“I do not want August 2 to pass without a solution to our country’s impending debt ceiling issue. This plan represents the second solution in that many weeks that I have helped send to the Senate, after last week’s bipartisan ‘Cut, Cap and Balance’ proposal. The plan I voted for today isn’t perfect, but it’s a serious proposal to meet the nation’s debt obligations without issuing D.C. another ‘blank check.’”

Their recovery is estimated to cost $60 million dollars and impacts costs are over $650,000,000. Meanwhile, in the state of Washington, anglers are paid $3 by the USFWS for every squawfish caught that measures over 11 inches.

That's right, folks. We spent a fortune to kill the squaw fish off in Colorado... then have spent tens of millions to restore them... and we're doing our very best to kill them off up here on the Columbia.

That's what our cardboard cut out of a congresswoman voted for.

Our Congress continues to disappoint. Texas GOP Representative Louie Gohmert began a petition drive to introduce a “Pay Troops First” bill to guarantee funding for military pay, veterans benefits, and military retiree income. He began the effort because of President Obama’s threats to not pay these patriots in the event of a government shutdown due to the debt ceiling crisis. Although Gohmert expected to easily obtain the 218 signatures necessary to bring the bill to the House floor, in two weeks time he had received only 9 signatures.
That’s sad and shameful.

Concurrently, Texas GOP Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison introduced similar legislation in the Upper House, but the Senate Majority Leader, Democrat Harry Reid, refused to allow the proposal to leave committee.
Both Gohmert’s and Hutchison’s proposals seemed like no-brainer, sail-to-victory pieces of legislation, but they failed to muster any movement.

What’s going on?

Apparently both Reid and the Speaker of the House, John Boehner (R-OH), wanted to keep the troop pay issue alive as they wrangle over competing proposals for addressing the debt crisis:

Leaders on both sides do not want to remove military pay from the debate because they believe that having it at risk will make it easier for lawmakers to go along with a deal for which they otherwise would not vote.

As for "Congressional Leadership," you wouldn't know it if it bit you in your wide-glide butt. Leadership means doing the tough thing... the hard thing... when it needs to be done. And that's simply not possible for a coward like you.

Wasserman Schultz, in whose neighboring South Florida district West lives, provoked his tirade with remarks after he left the House floor today, in which she responded -- without naming him -- to the Tea Party freshman's support for "Cut, Cap, and Balance" legislation to raise the debt ceiling.

"The gentleman from Florida. who represents thousands of Medicare beneficiaries, as do I, is supportive of this plan that would increase costs for Medicare beneficiaries, unbelievable from a Member from South Florida," Wasserman Schultz said, saying the legislation "slashes Medicaid and critical investments essential to winning the future in favor of protecting tax breaks for Big Oil, millionaires, and companies who ship American jobs overseas."

Her criticism of the legislation -- more or less what most Democrats are saying today -- provoked a furious response. West copied members of House Republican and Democratic leadership on the email, as well as his chief-of-staff, Jonathan Blyth.

Readers of any duration know I'm not a big fan of Jaime Herrera. But compared to Tim "The Liar" Leavitt, she's a paragon of virtue.

While Herrera has yet to show any real strength, and easily has it within her power to force a county-wide vote by killing any federal funding for this massive waste of money, she has begun the process to provide herself with a thin veneer of cover by her weak, unsupported push to force the downtown mafia/Identity Vancouver types to put at least part of this stupidity to a vote.

Leavitt is by far the biggest liar SW Washington has ever seen in politics... and there has been a few. But as a result of Herrera's efforts, as weak as they are, Vancouver's slimeball mayor wrote Herrera a letter that should earn him a kick in his tiny testicles.

Besides having the ethics of a snake, this moron actually seems to believe that the will of the people is a meaningless phrase, to only be used to help lie one's way into election. The following is a letter the whiny little bitch sent to Herrera as a result of her letter to C-Trans, and I, personally, can't think of any other single event that would make me kill ALL of the federal funding for this thing faster than The Liar's sniveling.

Subject: Projects of Regional and National Significance (PNRS)

Dear Congresswoman:

I am writing in response to your most recent letter to the C-TRAN Board of Directors (BOD), dated June 15, 2011. Your first letter, dated May 12, 2011, stated support for the CRC project. That is appreciated and did not go unnoticed.

However, your position on the matter of saving the PNRS program is both disappointing and perplexing. Senators and Representatives throughout our Country have supported this bipartisan effort to save the PNRS program, recognizing that large-scale infrastructure projects with regional and national significance merit substantial federal financial support. Given your previous and public comments about the importance of the federal financial role in the Columbia River Crossing (CRC) project, we believed you would be a champion for the supposition that indeed our federal government pay its fair share of these crucial transportation projects – projects that must meet competitive national criteria. An earmark was not requested.

Protecting the PNRS account would help our nation compete globally and will alleviate the burden on local communities like Clark County to unfairly fund large scale projects of national significance. Without question, Interstate 5 is a federal asset of national importance. And according to your letter, we both agree that "...our region needs a new bridge that relieves congestion and moves freight efficiently." However, without a PNRS account, it appears likely that this infrastructure project will either stall -- costing even more money in the long run -- or our local residents will have to pay more of the burden. I know we can do better.

There are few projects around the country as important and nationally significant as the CRC project; both the President of the United States and Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood has highlighted our region’s project in their fiscal year 2012 budget. As the transportation reauthorization bill moves through your committee, I hope you will reconsider the basis for your objection, re-calibrate your position, and join the large bi-partisan effort to protect the future economic vitality of SW Washington and our entire Country. Leadership from you is necessary.

Regarding your position on the matter of a sales tax increase for the Columbia River Crossing (CRC) light rail annual operating and maintenance (O&M) cost, I will remind you of both the legal and procedural steps that must occur before the C-TRAN BOD is fully informed to make a determination of the appropriate voting boundaries for the CRC light rail O&M sales tax increase. Specific to this issue, I suspect you may also receive a response from the C-TRAN BOD Chair, County Commissioner Marc Boldt.

The C-Tran Board has elected to place on the ballot for a public vote two (2) separate issues.

Most pressing and timely is a ballot measure that requests voter support for the preservation into the future of current levels of both fixed route and para-transit (Americans with Disabilities) service. The C-TRAN BOD has decided, as a nearly unanimous body, to focus all energies and effort on near-term success of this ballot measure. As would be expected, our public within the entire C-TRAN Service Area will voice their will on raising sales tax an amount of 0.2% -- or two pennies on a $10 retail purchase -- at the ballot box this coming November. If not successful, the residents of SW Washington will realize dramatic cuts to transit service levels, on the order of 30-40%. It must be noted that if this measure is not successful, the mandatory cuts will clearly have the most impact on the already limited transit service to areas outside the urban core – residents in Yacolt, Battleground, Washougal, Camas and Ridgefield will suffer most. Thus, this ballot measure is of utmos t priority to the entire C-TRAN BOD.

The second ballot measure will request an increase in the sales tax to support both the CRC light rail annual O&M, and, the construction and annual O&M of bus rapid transit in the Fourth Plain corridor of Vancouver. Both the Vancouver City Council and the C-TRAN BOD have affirmed on numerous occasions, including with adoption of the CRC Locally Preferred Alternative (LPA) in 2008, that high capacity transit is a vital component of an effective and efficient regional public transit system. The C-TRAN BOD, with support from the Vancouver City Council, agreed that including voters in a funding request of the CRC light rail transit annual O&M cost was prudent. Also, important to note is that during adoption of the CRC LPA, the C-TRAN Board did not make premature decisions about who was appropriate to ask for an increase in sales tax, nor when such a proposition would occur.

By statute of the State of Washington, prior to placing a high capacity transit-related measure before voters, an expert panel must be established that will review and approve any such plan for high capacity transit, including associated costs to implement that plan. C-TRAN is in the process of putting a panel together, that includes the Washington State Secretary of Transportation and other individuals from around the state. Once this state-mandated process is completed, the C-TRAN BOD will more fully understand and thus be better informed to make important decisions about the impacts and costs of high capacity transit in our County. When more factual data is collected and planning is completed, the time would be prudent for the C-TRAN BOD to take action on the high capacity transit located in the urban core of the City of Vancouver.

Congresswoman, the citizens of Southwest Washington cannot afford the consequences of inaction to bring our regional infrastructure into the 21st Century. At stake is the viability of our economy and job growth, the cleanliness of the air we breathe and the waters of the Columbia River, the safety and reliability of driving vehicles throughout the Metro area, and quite simply – the quality of life we enjoy with our families, friends and neighbors. The Interstate 5 corridor is quite literally the life-blood of the entirety of SW Washington.

Our region must see this project come to fruition now, and the federal government must be a significant partner in both the needed highway and transit improvements. Working together I’m confident we will do what is indeed in the best interest of our future generations. I would appreciate a private meeting with you to further discuss this issue.

Seventy-nine Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives cast votes Thursday against an amendment to H.R 2112, the Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration and Related Agencies Appropriations Act of 2012 that would have blocked the government from paying out $1.25 billion to a suspect class of people, many of whom have been outed as con artists backed by hungry class-action lawyers. Today, I’m wondering (albeit with my tongue firmly in cheek), “Where is the mainstream media coverage of this story?”

Four months ago, the Washington Times used its editorial page to lambaste Pigford as “Race hustlers are shaking down taxpayers for payoffs, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is falling for the scam.” On yesterday’s vote, however, the newspaper was silent. And they’re not alone.

While Lee Stranahan’s article at Andrew Breitbart’s BigGovernment.com and my piece that followed cast some light on the matter, none of the alphabet networks or dinosaur newspapers appear to have reported on the vote. In fact, a Google News Search this morning of the word “Pigford” — the shortened version of the name of the class-action lawsuit, Pigford v. Glickman, against the USDA — turned up only eight results.

I suspect news anchors and editorial writers are avoiding the subject, since it could come back to bite the rear ends of the candidates for whom they will be “carrying water” in the 2012 elections. For that reason alone, members of the new media and the Tea Party Movement alike should make it a hot-button campaign issue.

The seriousness of Pigford is, perhaps, best explained by the statement issued by U.S. Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) about the amendment he filed that would have prevented any funds appropriated under the act from being used to settle claims associated with the controversial and fraud-plagued Pigford II program:

“In the 2008 Farm Bill, Congress limited taxpayers’ exposure to the Pigford II settlement program at $100 million, a figure that was deemed sufficient to resolve the racial discrimination claims leveled against the United States Department of Agriculture by black farmers,” said King. “Since that time, a lame-duck Democratic Congress agreed to President Obama’s request to pump an additional $1.15 billion into the Pigford II settlement program, doing so even though the program is rife with credible allegations of massive fraud that have not been fully investigated. This was an irresponsible act, and it violated Congress’s responsibility to be good stewards of taxpayers’ money.”

“The new majority in the House of Representatives should not ratify the lame-duck Congress’s decision to increase American taxpayers’ exposure to Pigford II fraud. I believe that an investigation into the program will reveal that the majority of the claims that have been filed are fraudulent, and Congress should not turn a blind eye to the real possibility that the money is being used primarily to build political goodwill for the President instead of being used to properly redress the much smaller universe of people who have actually suffered harm. If passed, my amendment would put the brakes on Pigford II funding, and it would prevent the Secretary of Agriculture from paying fraudulent claims one $50,000 check at a time.”

*Pigford II is the second such “settlement program,” established when some folks in Washington decided some “black farmers” had been overlooked during the first round which began in 1999 under the so-called “first black president,” Bill Clinton.

When will Herrera learn to speak plain English?

Jaime Herrera, who up to now has been playing footsie with the slime ramming this horrifically expensive, unnecessary project down our throats wrote a letter today, a letter you can find here:

The problem with this letter, as has been the problem with most of her communication is that when she actually deigns to speak, it's so nebulous and ambivalent that it's meaningless.

In plain terms, Herrera needs to come out and write this:

Dear CRC Board:
Unless you hold a countywide vote on the entirety of this project, I will do everything I can to kill it.

Love, Jaime.

Unfortunately for us, that takes a level of testicular fortitude that our congressional representative has found herself incapable of providing.

For example, this letter SEEMS to advocate for a "districtwide light rail vote."

There are two problems with this half-hearted effort.

First, is, of course, that there should be a county-wide vote on ALL of this crap; up or down, start to finish... and not just loot rail.

Second, she doesn't seem to define what "districtwide" looks like.

Does it mean the entire 3rd District? Does it mean another slimy gerrymandered district that will cut out 70 or 80 thousand no votes? Does it mean countywide?

Why doesn't she just come out and say?

So, here, we have a problem:

The problem? Defining what "district wide" means.

Does it mean the gerrymandered, despicable district the loot rail scum want? Does it mean the entire 3rd District? Does it mean COUNTY wide?

But even I am amazed that she has FINALLY spoken up on a no-brainer. We ALL pay for this crap pile, and those who pay should not be denied a vote.

It's the kind of unimpressive, head-scratching crap she's written before.

Time to man-up, Babs. This empty suit crap is getting old.

When is OUR congresswoman going to get some guts?

Compared to other districts, SW Washington has no representation.

Readers here know that I despise the formerly worthless state representative from the 18th and now currently worthless congresswoman for a wide variety of reasons. Readers also know of my respect and admiration for a warrior-congressman, Allen West from the Florida 22.

As we all know, Ridgefield Barbie has a case of the "Baird disease," wherein facing constituents becomes a drama and doing everything you can not to have to listen is the order of the day.

I get that her keepers are terrified of letting her loose, unscripted. A mile wide and paper-thin, the omnipresent lack of intellect and courage makes me long for someone the opposite her in the area of vision, knowledge and ability.

Allen West is hamstrung by none of Barbie's obvious failings. And here's just another snapshot of a real congressman in action:

We still have no definitive plan for the debt limit coming from the Obama Administration, regardless of the “negotiations” being led by Vice President Joe Biden...

...When President Obama stood with German leader Angela Merkel and stated that he was not concerned about a double dip recession, that made me think the statement would be similar to General George Custer stating to the Troopers of the 7th Calvary at Little Big Horn, “Hey, nothing to worry about.”

One needs only to look at the economic indicators of job growth, quite anemic to say the least, and the fact that the Dow Jones had its sixth straight week of negative slide. These are the first six straight weeks since 2002.

This month the Federal Reserve’s Quantitative Easing (QE II) will come to an end. It means that the federal government has been monetarizing our debt by buying its own treasury bonds, printing more money, and lowering interest rates to rock bottom, yet these steps have not produced any sustainable improvements.

We could seriously be on the verge of an inflationary fiscal environment. And if anyone from the Obama Administration recommends increased Keynesian style stimulus spending, well, let us go back and look at how many stimulus packages Japan initiated.
We are so not out of the woods, and last year’s “Summer of Recovery,” has now turned into the possibility of a dubious and dastardly double dip recession.

Doug Ross, who put this up ended it by saying:

I think West is being optimistic. We've never left the economic downturn.

And the administration's devotion to crony capitalism and job-destroying policies are keeping us in the muck and mire.

If only we had a congressman (or woman) like West.

It’s no secret that I did not support Jaime Herrera Beutler for the seat she sits in currently. The above video is a prime reason why, beyond the nonsense thrown at me by her staff and the Clark County Republican Party because I had the audacity to actually support a Conservative Republican in last year’s election.

At her May 16, 2011 Town Hall, Jaime faced a crowd of angry Democrats fearing she will vote like a Republican. The above comment was the normal run of the mill leftwing tripe on ending tax breaks and subsidies for corporations, the job creators. Hearing this particular part of her reply, I can only ask, “Jaime, are you clueless or pandering to Democrats again?”

She specifically mentions ExxonMobil and GE as corporations not paying taxes. Leftists, Moveon.org and several others have been making that claim, based in large part to admitted Socialist Democrat Bernie Sanders from Vermont releasing his list of Top Ten Tax Avoiders, where it is claimed the companies posted large profit increases, and pay no taxes in the U.S.

Courage is a rare commodity in elected officials. Unfortunately for us, our member of Congress is not possessed of that particular virtue. As a template, I defer to the Warrior Congressman, Allen West (R FL22) who speaks his mind with an uncommon level of fearlessness that we could only dream that our particular cardboard cutout of a member of Congress could emulate... at least to some degree.

(Just as a side note, has anyone heard Babs' take on the bin Laden mission?)

So the rag, in it's own cutesy way, published a little something in their rarely read (hell, the entire newspaper is rarely read, as far as that goes) political blog where non facts go to die and where they tell us that Babs is on Steve "The Liar" Stuart's side when it comes to requiring the county wide vote that Stuart lied to us about in his last campaign.

Nonsense.

Six years on legislative staff conditioned me to ferret our bullshit whenever it crossed my desk. And Herrera's bogus letter reeks.

Of course, when local legislators tried to get the attention of slimeballs like The Liar Leavitt and The Liar Stuart, the result was for those arrogant pricks to publicly fire back in despicable ways that served to prove that they didn't give a damn what the people thought or wanted.

The letter is utter nonsense because it fails to task these clowns with any requirement, or to provide consequences should they fail to act... as they will fail to act, in the way Babs wants them to. But that's happened before. And if it happens again, well, she's established something of a pattern, eh?

The whole point of the letter is to make people BELIEVE she cares and wants a vote... when in reality, she doesn't.

Because if she DID care, she would have written a variation of something like this:

“Dear C-Tran Board Members,

I would like to communicate my firm opposition to any tolls on this project and pledge to you now that unless there is a binding, county wide vote, I will kill the funding for all of this in Congress.

Love, Jaime.”

Anything else... which means EVERYTHING else, is eyewash, smoke and mirrors.

Teddy Roosevelt told us that there was more to it then "walking softly." And as I knew years ago, she never had, and could never use, the big stick. Which is why, while letters get written like that (as if SHE ever wrote anything like that), letter writing is all that happens.

So far, that kind of garbage confuses the voters... and the rag... into actually thinking she cares and is on their side when, in fact, she is neither.

The sad truth: what federal politicians don't want you to know.

The following is sad... but true.

Doing what must be done would require a level of courage essentially unknown in government... can you even begin to imagine the gutless, cardboard cut out of a congresswoman we're cursed with representing us in Congress actually standing up for something... actually believing in something enough to risk her career for it?

Hell, no. With Ridgefield Barbie, it's ALWAYS been about her. And cowardice of all varieties is what we're going to have to show for it.

Several weeks ago, I asked the question: A fiscal tsunami is coming: when is Congress going to act?

There was hope... now rapidly dwindling... that the Ryan Plan might begin to address the issues.

At some point, we WILL have to address the problems we all know are coming.

It's just a matter of when... and how. But as each day goes by, our options become fewer and fewer.

Here's an explanation that tells the truth. It's a truth we don't like to hear. It's a truth we don't want to talk about. At the end of the day, though, our options remain unchanged: We can talk about it now, or when our economy finishes the slow-motion train wreck that our government has put into motion.

Our only hope is for a wave of Allen Wests to be elected... men and women of proven valor and sacrifice.

It's our call. Just don't expect anything out of the Ridgefield Barbies infesting the place and selling us out with their lack of guts because they fear they might not get re-elected.

What Politicians Do Not Want You to Know!

Politicians do not want you to know they cannot solve the problems in Washington.

They know it, and they hope you won’t figure it out.

Politicians cannot make the changes that are required to turn things around. They cannot balance the budget. They don’t even talk about repaying the $15 trillion we owe. We can bang our head against a brick wall again and again, and it will always hurt. We can send politicians to Washington election after election, and they will always fail. Or we can tell them to Get Out Of Our House ( our House of Representatives).

Politicians have created a political catch-22 from which they cannot escape. The two-party system prevents them from doing what must be done. It forces them to make promises they cannot keep. If one party tries to cut spending the “other” will use it against them. If we continue down this path, our nation will fail.

The solution is to elect leaders who do not care about getting re-elected, do not care about keeping their party in power, and do not care about rewarding those who funded their campaign. We have a way to make this happen.

Consider this point carefully: politicians cannot afford to alienate voters. If they do, they cede power to the other party.

Politicians will not pass the 28th amendment to balance the budget that has been circulating for years because it would reduce their power.

They will not pass a Fair or Flat tax because it eliminates their ability to reward special interest groups.

They will not abolish organizations like the Department of Education because they do not want to alienate teacher unions.

They will not seal the borders because they fear offending Hispanics.

They will not reform campaign financing because they need millions of dollars to get re-elected.

They will not cut spending because it will cost votes.

Politicians cannot, will not, do what must be done.

Both parties claim spending cuts will harm the economy, but what has increased spending accomplished? Each party has championed massive bailouts, yet the situation has only deteriorated. The two sides are gridlocked over $60 billion of cuts in a $3.5 trillion budget; that’s like a dieter debating whether or not to eat the last two M&M’s in a one pound bag!

Why do we keep sending the same people to Washington? 94% of the politicians in the U.S. House of Representatives will again be re-elected if we do not do something different. Thousands of us, with your communities united, have a solution.

Our members will be choosing a candidate to compete in each congressional district in 2012. For the first time ever, Americans will have an honest chance to replace the entrenched politicians.

Please get everyone you can to join our movement and elect true representatives of the people who will do the work that must be done.

You no longer need be a millionaire to get elected. We all will pick the best of our own communities and fund them to win.

This process will guarantee accountability to the PEOPLE who elect them and none others.

No special interests. No lobbyist money. No party money.

Is Herrera paying attention?

I will never forget Jaime Herrera standing there, telling me at the Red Lion at the Quay that her going to school, her multiple internships of a few weeks duration, her 10 year long absence from the area was "the same thing as serving in the military."

I knew, at that second, that Barbie was unfit to serve in elective office, because anyone who felt that way was a clueless moron.

After the UBL hit, I've got to wonder... what was her take? And does she still feel the same way?

Unfortunately (Or perhaps, fortunately) we don't know, because, well, she hasn't deigned to tell us.

Some might say that her silence is golden. I believe it to be part of her continuing pattern of cowardice based on her ongoing, multiple failures to take any position on any of the major issues confronting us that don't sound like they were cranked out by the House GOP talking point shop.

What's strangest for me is that about every other elected official, including those like Babs who never felt highly enough about their country to serve it in uniform, down to the moronic at the city counsel level seems to have weighed in.

But not our congresscritter.

Why am I not surprised?

Babs held an early fundraiser today by limiting access to her to 11 hand-picked businesses for her photo op/press release session covered by the rag.

This phrase leapt off the page at me:

Herrera Beutler has held no town halls in the 3rd Congressional District during Congress’[sic] two-week spring break to answer questions about her recent votes or other issues. However, she said she did hold a telephone town hall last week.

“We reached out to about 13,000 people,” she said. Asked to characterize the comments she received, she said, “The overwhelming response was, ‘We need to have an adult conversation about the debt and the deficit.’“

Tell us again why anyone was dumb enough to vote for you?

The only thing missing that was different from the coward you replaced is that you didn't even use a fake death threat as an excuse to avoid facing the people.

So, I checked on a real Member of Congress... one we could be proud of... a man who'll face the people at least as well as he faced combat... Congressman Allen West (R-FL-22)

What happened? Fringe left nutters were arrested at HIS open town hall meeting.

That he's even holding open town halls, knowing they'll be interrupted by leftist whack jobs shows what kind of man he is... and what kind of congress critter I wish we had... but obviously don't have.

Your failure to take positions on the major issues of the day... your lies about the utterly worthless budget cut... and now?

You total lack of a position on raising the debt ceiling.

I'm opposed to raising it, because, of course, raising a so-called debt ceiling just makes such a ceiling worthless.

But you? I'd lay odds that you're going to go along with the establishment GOP'ers and just vote to raise it like the rest of the sheep, because if you ever had an original thought it's long since died of loneliness.

You've sold us out before. You'll sell us out again.

As Ridgefield Barbie again tap danced about screwing the people of this country in Congress like she screwed us in the legislature, and again missing the point with her vote for the Ryan Bill, having voted "no" on the even more conservative and cutting Republican Study Group alternative to that bill, we get this nugget from our own version of the empty suit:

• She supported the continuing budget resolution the House and Senate passed Thursday to keep the federal government running through Oct. 1 even though it didn’t cut spending as deeply as she had hoped.

“Would I have liked more? Absolutely,” she said. “I voted yes on principle. I got to take part in the largest actual (federal budget) cut since World War II.”

With her, it's never about doing what's right or best. Instead, it's about what SHE gets to do.

She said so herself... right here. And, as is typical for whatever drives her votes... she is naturally flat wrong.

The details are here:

Likewise, there was a sharp decline in spending after World War II. Beginning in 1946, Congress cut spending for three straight fiscal years. The biggest drop occurred in 1946, when spending dropped by $37.5 billion or about 40 percent (from $92.7 billion to $55.2 billion). That $37.5 billion would be worth $425.4 billion in today’s dollars — making it the largest cut in adjusted dollars.

This year’s proposed cut is not even bigger than the reduction in spending that occurred last year, when total spending declined $61.5 billion, or 1.7 percent, after the infusion of stimulus money started to dry up. The biggest drop in spending prior to 2010 occurred in 1955, when total spending fell $2.4 billion or 3.4 percent.

To check this claim, we turned to OMB’s historical tables for non-defense spending (Table 6.1). We found that actual spending declined by about $94 billion, from $2.86 trillion in 2009 (which included funds for the stimulus bill) to $2.76 trillion in 2010. That’s much larger than the current budget cut, which totals $38.5 billion. Based on those figures, Rogers (And, typically, Herrera) are way off.

Unfortunately, Herrera's votes have frequently been ego-driven, self-serving pap, like her support and co-sponsorship of SEIU legislation and helping the democrats strip out the last $229 million from the state emergency fund... and her moronic vote, along with a single other Republican, to continue the non-functioning Obama Mortgage Failure Savior Bill Bill in Congress a few weeks ago.

Herrera is living up to her failure to find reason to criticize her predecessor, Brian Baird. To date, it has been the typically pathetic and vacuous performance we've come to expect based on her history at the government trough, her miserable tenure in the State House where she accomplished absolutely nothing and her sure to be equally miserable tenure in Congress, which will hopefully end in January of 2013.

According to the CBO, the deal to cut this year's budget by $38 billion looks more like $352 million when you do the real math.

Kai Ryssdal: Republicans won the House last fall by promising to cut $100 billion from the budget. Problem was, the fiscal year had already started by the time they were sworn in, so they prorated it to $61 billion. Negotiations got it to almost $39 billion last Friday in the no-government-shutdown agreement. But even as that deal officially passed the House today, we learned the actual amount the government won't be spending is substantially smaller.

Not only did we not get the $100 billion they promised to get elected; we didn't get their fuzzy-math "pro-rated" $61 Billion... or even the $39 Billion they ultimately sold us all out for.

Our own cardboard cut out of a congresscritter naturally voted with the rest of the establishment types for this farcical sham.

And so it goes... another day of betrayal.

Of all the cowards in Congress, one of the most conspicuous by her absence was our own Ridgefield Barbie.

If she had kept a lower profile during the budget battle and ultimate caving that she voted for, she could have been mistaken for the tunnel project of the Alaskan Way Viaduct.

Having been busted trying to bring in $10 million in pork for the Port of Vancouver (Just like her democrat, "no reason to criticize" predecessor) in this era where those shilling earmarks have the social standing of lepers, I can understand, a little, why she would be hiding in the shadows, hoping we wouldn't notice.

Well, I notice. I notice everything.

You had an opportunity here, Babs. You could have shown some guts. You could have shown some leadership. But, of course, you have neither.

So, you can come out and play now, little girl. The big, bad, monster is gone.

Reading the comments left here is occasionally like reading the democratian: outright lies, policy distortions, pay offs and fringe left distortions. Motivations run the range from the effort to use you as a tool, to spam that covers the entire spectrum of nonsense.

This morning's effort is from a particularly virulent leftist who, like John Laird and so many other fringers at the rag, seemed to have missed the memo.

In the SHORT time that Ridgefield Barbie has been in Congress, she has blamed The Senate, and The President for failure to agree on a Federal Budget,even though there WAS a tentative agreement between the House and Senate until FILTHY AND STUPID freshmen Republican members of congress like her BACKED OUT of the agreement.

And SHE has SOME NERVE sponsoring a bill that tries to implement the CONGRESSIONAL budget proposal until a deal is reached.

Someone needs to clue "MS. SUGAR BRITCHES" into the fact that Congress does NOT RUN this country on IT'S OWN, and if SHE can' t get THAT FACT through that THICK AND EMPTY HEAD of hers, then SHE needs to find ANOTHER line of work, Like running the COFFEE MESS back in OLYMPIA!

I NEVER believed that SHE had the EXPERIENCE, SINCERITY or INTELLIGENCE for the job of Congressperson, and in the short time that SHE has been at Congress, she has proven herself to be a RECKLESS and STUPID LEMMING.

It is TRULY PATHETIC that WE as residents of the 3rd District have to be represented by a piece of WORK like Jaime Herrera Beutler.

Ahem.

I post this, not particularly in support, because it just sounds like turbocharged fringe-left talking points, but as an example of what typically doesn't make the cut.

Now, the poster here is a fellow named Chuck Glisson. His email is, apparently (and, perhaps, appropriately enough) outpatient.band@gmail.com. His interesting web site is http://www.chuckglisson.com/. He's a Navy vet, seems to have served as a "Hull Technician" on a variety of fast, small, combat ships... destroyers, frigates and the like. He seems to live in the Bremerton area... quite outside the 3rd CD. Oddly, he does not seem to be registered to vote in Washington State. (No one by that name or "Charles" is registered to vote.)

Now, I'm not sure why he posted this here. His comments seem to be the typical generic, "I hate everything GOP" type; long on heat, short on light.

I will be the first to admit that I loath and despise Herrera. But my concerns over her "representation" are rooted in facts and history, not a generic hatred of the GOP... any more than my opposition to Obama is rooted in anything but facts and history.

I have received many comments from Chuck. I have received many from those on the right like Chuck, those who support Herrera or, frankly, Jon Russell... hopes for my death and the like... the same sort of result I get every time the rag decides to use me as their pinata... a scenario in place sine Tommy the K flipped out and demanded Boldt's resignation over the Gorge Budget some 13 or 14 years ago.

It's why I carry a weapon.

There's a very good chance that I won't have to ever use it, but the deal about a weapon is that you never really need one... unless you really, really, need one.

Tweaking those in power is a tough business. I have been demanding truth from the local rag for over 20 years... and not getting it nearly enough over the past 2 decades. And as time goes on, the paper that is supposed to provide an unvarnished truth all too often censors, twists, attacks, lies and withholds information when they don't like it... or, as in the case of Jim Jacks and Brian Baird before him, want to protect someone and their party. No one, regardless of party, is immune from being held accountable to this community.

Chuck Glissan has a right to do what he does just like I have a right to do what I do. Unlike most who condemn me for this exercise, Chuck and I have pre-paid for our exercise of this right: We put our collective butts on the line by strapping on a uniform and serving in the military. Most who want me silenced (You reading this, Marc? Lou?) Never loved their country enough to make that sacrifice.

Chuck, if you read this, do yourself (and me) a favor: use FACTS in your presentation. Use links to provide some proof of your assertions. Draw conclusions, but lay them out like a math equation.

I need to remind myself of that particular talent.

I post opposing points of view, but only if they have some factual basis. Friends, We all remember ten years ago on September 11; where we were, and what we were doing when we learned of the terrorist attacks on the Twin Towers and Pentagon. We all felt fear and confusion at the images of horror we saw on the news. But this is America. What makes this country great is the courage and bravery that emerges during our darkest times. A few months after 9/11, I was working with a small group of volunteers in a Red Cross shelter next to Ground Zero in New York. We were filling a simple role -- serving eggs and providing blankets to those conducting the cleanup. It was a round the clock task and when the police, firefighters and construction workers needed to come in from the freezing weather, some would come in and attempt to rest. The scene was grave. Rubble that had been a pile was slowly turning into a pit as more was removed and cleaned up each day. Remains of victims were still being unearthed. But playing this small part in the healing process galvanized my desire to work in service to our communities. Like many Americans, my love and respect for our country and her citizens soared. We take this ten year anniversary of the September 11 attacks to offer our heartfelt gratitude to our first responders, and the men and women of our military, who stepped forward to respond to this tragedy. And we remember those who have died for our country. May we also never forget the demonstrations of bravery or the spirit of service that resulted from 9/11.
